Whats your thoughts fellas? I did some research and I'm about to pull the trigger on a VMP Gen3R. It seems to fit my needs perfectly and offers the most budget friendly package at the moment.

plenty of examples making 1100+ and uses the stock TB bolt pattern making it easy to upgrade as you go and not have to dump Cash into the TB/CAI right out of the gate as compared to the whipple gen5.

You've done the research and are settled on the VMP Gen3R, so just do it. Sometimes varying opinions can make you second guess what you know is your best choice. Nothing wrong with getting input from others, but in this case you've already done your research.

What's your fuel setup?

This is more just for discussion and hearing the various options available for others that might be googling the differences. Its not for me to change my opinion.

Depends on ur potential power levels. Nothing will make more power the big LI Kenny Bell! Seen 1400 whp from one but that was thru a stick shift but nonetheless it was the most I've seen from a street car with a blower.

While the 3 + versions from VMP seem to be a tad more reliable than prior gens, I’d heavily consider a Whipple if they make the newer style for the GT500’s.
The key IMHO is getting a better Ic brick and getting the stock one out of there.

They all have potential to blow your stock bottom end
(even stock blower does), see Mustang Lifestyle recent threads.
You’re already going 10s@130, and based on your other posts, you have big plans? What are the exact goals?
I always like to look it as a total package, so learn from guys on here that have accomplished your goals.

So looking at your other thread your goal is 8s.

I would say you have to go big.

KB 4.7L
Whipple 4.5L
Turbo

I made this thread just to get the discussion going about the different blowers as i really couldnt find anything doing direct comparisons.

As for my goals:
Right now the improvements Im gonna make are going in with a very conservative tune. I'm gonna ask Matt at performance evolution to slap a 6000-6500RPM rev limit.

I just want to dip down in the 10s abit more, enjoy the upgrades, build the bottom end, increase the power, possibly swap to E85, and see where she lands.

Honestly,

I feel like 20 years ago KB was king shit, then Johnny came along for less money and better customer service.

Then they both became irrelevant when Eaton dropped their TVS setup (VMP, Roush, Eddelbrok).

Hellcats IHI is dope.

I went gen2r to gen3 to KB 3.6. They are all fine. Gen 3 was a bust but that was was when they had the proprietary bolt pattern and had TB and tuning issues. I then went with a full house build and KB so not apple to orange.

VMP will allow you to keep your stock hood. Big KB will require engine lowering and/or cowl hood.

All will make huge power. Most of the arguments are driven by brand loyalty and not product features.

My advice would be to port your trinity and save money for a proper build since you will need 2650 or >4.0 KB/Whipple to chase your goals. With stock lower there is no point in anything bigger than gen2r or 2.9 since your lower is the weak point.

best of luck

I’ve read quite a fair bit of conjecture on this over the last few years (particularly with the VMP v KB rhetoric)

Best I can come up with is whipple will give you big power up top and VMP (eaton) will give you more power down low. KB won’t get going until it spins fast enough and then you need a big strong engine. All of it seems to lack a consistent fact base. They all push a ton of air, more air that moves more power you can make

Would be good for these manufacturers to publish CFM ratings across comparable rev ranges based on pulley size.

One this is for sure, All of the above mentioned blowers will make enough power to blow your engine, and all are 1,000hp capable etc.

We believe that our TVS blowers provide the best driveability especially if the car is going to be street driven. We also believe that because we offer the full spectrum of parts, tuning, and customer service that we give customers the best all around experience they are looking for with their car.

Happy to discuss anything you want to talk about! Just give us a shout!
