Right on. We're going to cut-off at least 9 months of payments with a refi (including the refi cost).

I remember when my parents bought and 6% was so low my dad couldn't believe it. Then again, he was from a time when cars cost a couple thousand and you paid for homes in cash at 20-30k a pop. My how times have changed.

Oh ya. I remember +15% mortgages in the early 80's. When we built our first house in the late 80's, we had an 11% ARM - lol. Today, we can get a 15 year fixed for 2.5%.

Yeah, I've put off buying for a while. Maybe now might be the time.

It honestly can't go much lower, though I read the Fed is going to drop it another ~20 basis points later this month. This about as good as it gets bro.

This. People are anticipating the feds might drop it again during their regular scheduled meeting in a few weeks. I bet it'll happen if the market keeps going at the rate it is.

I looked up a refi at my local credit union and they're doing a 15 year with 2.5% interest, 2.6%apr. Crazy low. I'm probably going to wait a few weeks and see what happens then refi.

Yeah, main problem is determining what I want.

Basic 4/2/2 near work for 225k?

3 car garage for closer to 300K and a bit more of a drive?

Found a 4 car garage for $320, but 5K in property tax. :(

I got an email from my lender telling me that rates are low enough to look into a refi. I haven't had a chance to call, but I'm going to start looking around to see what's out there. Would love to go from a 30y to a 15y without a big payment change.

NBA telling teams to prepare to play games without fans...

That’s not going to help the hysteria. I’m still heavy in cash, trying to be patient.

Trying to time the 'low', when the markets are ALREADY in correction???

The markets recover 100% of the time historically. Adding now (outside your 401K,which you should already be adding to monthly), with whatever you're comfortable with, is a smart move. This is not 2008. Quit watching the Big Short. There is no get rich quick for 99% It's get rich over 30 years. And index funds are the 'safer' bet.

Adding a lump now, with money you may need in the short term, is a dumb move.

So no - you WON'T be able to time the low, just like you WON'T be able get out before the NEXT correction - and you don't need to.

You can't time the low, but you can think intelligently about what is going on. During the Great Recession, when I hit the point where I was sorely tempted to pull out, that was the time to buy.

Depends, when people are losing money there are people making millions at the same time.

Stanford just cancelled the rest of in person classes.

Logical Stats:
China 4 times pop. ~ 240k flu deaths a year.
China natural attrition rate is .0071(USA is .0073)
Wuhan pop 11 million times .0071 divided by 12 ~ 6500 deaths a month.
China says the virus killed about 300 in Jan. 6500 normal 300 more this Jan. Why the worry or quarantine over 300?
49 Crematoriums in Wuhan. All say they are backed up burning 100 bodies a day.
Wuhan brings in 40 industrial size incinerators.
Leaked document shows 24,500 deaths in Jan not 300.
To me quarantine makes sense with 300%+ increase in deaths.
China would not do anything if it was only 5% increase.

Pretty clear that elderly or anyone with lung issues are at severe risk.

Everyone is at risk, not severe but it can be anyone.
Covid-19 Patient Dies Days After Being Declared Recovered - Caixin Global
29 yr old male and female doctors. 20 something nurses. 23 professional female soccer player.

This is where the Feds and president need to step up. Get those ****ing testing kits moving to places they need to be so we can do widespread testing and identify who has it. How could they ship out 900k kits and “everyone who wants a test can get it” yet only 45 people on that cruise ship were tested and there are 3500 aboard it? Trump and the federal gov are ****ing things up and I have no idea why?

Its spreading more than hospitals are reporting. In fact people working at the hospitals maybe infected and not even know it, but passing it on like a wild fire.

Tests should have been out 3 weeks ago. More below...

This virus can be incubated for up to 3 weeks.
Yes you are contagious even before you show symptoms.
Washington state cases were walking around for 4-6 weeks spreading it without seeing any symptoms.
This virus is airborne.
This virus is alive for up to 9 days. Think about that...It can be on anything we touch 9 days after it was left.

BREAKING: Sutter Santa Rosa CA Regional Hospital sent at least 30 hospital workers home today on quarantine orders after they were exposed to #coronavirus #covid19, according to their union @seiu_uhw. Story coming

If it’s in our hospitals it’s in our cities. Yes the government took this way too lightly relying on China’s fake numbers.

I hate to say it but most hospital corporations for profit or not are trying to hide the fact that its exposed in there hospital. If they didnt all hospitals would be ordering thousands of testing kits and having all staff tested weekly.
