.075” or 1.905 mm

ok not sure why people are adding extra parts to a simple mod and then have issues with spacers.

I wanted the big brake kit to fit like factory. I wasn’t keen on modding my spindle permanently. My calipers are already milled so I don’t need my spacers.

This makes the calipers a bolt on mod without drilling the stock spindles. The bushings in the kit replace the factory brembo caliper bushings. It also lowers the caliper down so you don't have the large amount of pad that doesn't contact the rotor. In my opinion it's the only way to do this mod.

Agreed 100%

There are two types of spacers. The first type is .075" thick and goes btw the hat and spindle to correct the caliper offset. I chose to have mine milled instead. The second type of spacer is for your wheels, if needed. One unanswered question in the thread is what wheels fit. I included how much spacer my BBS wheels took and what I believe is the total clearance you'd need so everyone can check the clearance of their wheels beforehand.

Ok I see what it does.

***Edit*** Had it backwards in my head.

Ok I see what it does. I just don't feel that good about going to a tiny bolt to hold your calipers on and then having to run spacers. I have had spacers/shims shatter on me before and then the wheel wobbles. Also with it being a smaller bolt wont it move around in the spindle? You are adding multiple fail points to your brakes. In the end I guess to each their own and if you feel safe then that is all that matters.

That “tiny” bolt is the same bolt your brakes currently use, same bolt the cobra R used, same bolt that all the big box company’s that sell 14”+ 6 piston kits use, oh and the same bolt size that the new 4000+ lb mustangs use with larger rotors/calipers.

Ah ok. I used the bigger 14mm bolts. That is why they look smaller. Like I said if you are happy that is all that matters. Always great to have options out there!

the ats calipers use a 14mm bolt from the factory. the bushings use a 12 mm bolt which is the same size as the factory cobra brakes.

Any chance I can get info on this kit and where to order from. I will add it to the first page to give users/readers this option. I will edit what I said above now that I understand more about this mod.

Sorry same picture different thread: Installing ATS Brembos on the 03 Cobra.
He says in post 92 that it measures right at 41-42mm but can't actually get the inside bore measurement. I think it's actually 1.619" which is 41.1226mm

Yeah. Best way to measure would be to pop the piston out and measure it around the body. The diameter references the body of the piston, not the face that pushes against the pad. This face may be a tad smaller. I wasn't able to do this on an assembled caliper so I ballparked it. But they are noticeably larger than the standard 38mm calipers so I have no reason to doubt the official 42.xmm spec that was given.

BTW...for those that still PM me. I do not make these inserts. I made a few sets for myself but am not producing these for sale. My calipers are actually still in a box waiting for me to repaint them to my liking. Contact Lowranger. I've probably sent more than a dozen guys his way.

The 14mm definitely has a strength advantage but I don't believe it matters based on many oems using the same size fastener. I went with the inserts because I felt that was a safer option than drilling my holes out and hoping I got the correct alignment when I oblonged the holes to match the ears. It'd be near implossible for me to correctly move the caliper down and inward without a drill press.

I have the front kit installed as well as the bigger back calipers.

So far, so good but only went on a joyful Sunday cruise. Will be testing this coming week.

How’s the pedal feel and travel? This is what I am most concerned with....

Peddle was very firm with almost indistinguishable difference in travel length. If anything felt like I had to get on the brakes a lot less for stop to traffic. Only did one decently brake from a pull so not too much to say there yet. Felt nice to say the least. A little rubbing on the caliper where the brake contacts but can sort that out I'm sure. Can take a video later indicating difference.

Please do. My Baer 13.25" rear rotors just showed up so I might just scrap that idea and change calipers
