Will we ever see another Lightning?

So, it beats it off the line but the lightning reaches 60 mph quicker and wins the QM race.

Tremor traps 94mph(4x4). 01+ Lightnings trap 101mph+

So, maybe the only thing the Tremor beats the lightning is at 0-60ft.

I don't hate V6's. I hate the effort ford put into the Tremor.

The tremor or other stock ecoboost will trap 98 minimum all day. The new 10speed lighter trucks are faster.

There was no effort, it was a parts bin truck, even being a parts bin truck, it still has better features/nicer than lightning...which would make sense bc cars are nicer now.

Also, every 3.5 ecoboost is built better/stronger than the Lightning engines, which have special parts over regular 5.4.

how many times has someone in a V6 anything with an exhaust pulled out of somewhere and you went "damn now that's an awesome sounding vehicle"?

I'm willing to bet 0

v6 sounds like shit. If you get yanked by a v6, GTR or whatever that really sucks.

haha you're correct, I absolutely would hate a "performance" truck with a freaking V6. Do not care if the stock numbers are faster than a stock truck from decades ago.

Who the hell compares stock numbers? If you want to be fast, you mod. I'd still pick the V8 all day every day.

I'd speculate the vast majority of Lightnings on the street have been modded to some degree. Stock ones seemed to be very rare when I was buying mine.

Ya, lightning around a long time. Every ecoboost owner puts a tune on and it picks up a lot. Upgraded turbos and engines are out. There are some high hp ecoboosts out. Costs a lot, plus direct injection. Youll see more and more parts and cheaper coming out because there are so many on the road now. Sadly, you don't see lightning on the street though. Just garage cars kept now.

Don't think Ford would do it until EVs are in full swing.

A 2wd reg cab short bed F150 with the 2.7TT/ 10 speed could be pretty fun.

You can get that now. 3.5 short bed only Tremor.

If Ford were to ever do another L.... it would probably cost 70k++

Agreed.

IMO, Fords way to lame to introduce a G3 L anyway. Not only that but it would have some ecoboost trash power plaint if they did.

Tremor sucked. Plenty of seat time in one, and frankly it was boring and soulless. Options are to find a clean G1 or G2 or build your own.

Last Friday a Trailblazer SS saw mine... he saw my tailgate anyway.

I drive mine to work, to the store, all around town whenever the weather is nice. They are definitely rare but I think a lot of it depends on where you live. Down here we see them every now and then. Mostly 2nd gen though.

The 14 Tremors are turds stock. 5000lbs curb weight. Mid to high 14s at 94-95 mph stock.

The Lightnings are faster at least the 01+ are by a large margin. The 15+ are already faster than both with a tune only. And those 10 speeds are insane.

In addition, the 15+ rcsb are at 400lbs lighter than a Lightning.

Tremor/Ecoboosts will out run a Lightning. I know it is hard for everyone to admit, but youll get there someday.

Stock for stock a Tremor will out run a Lightning. Lots of 10 second Lightnings out there though. The Tremor never did and never will get the reaction a Lightning does when you see it driving down the road.

What the **** are y'all smoking? My Lightning bone stock in the middle of summer ran 13.55. That would beat the brakes off a stock Tremor.

If you want your own "new" lightning, then just order a regular cab 5.0 and put a blower/opg on it. It will run 10's easy. On these new trucks, you can also easily swap the gauge cluster to a a higher trim level and also add sync touch screen if you do order the reg. cab. You can also easily swap a raptor steering wheel or one your choice. The only fix, is upgrading the interior, IE cloth, bench style seat etc. It will also come with painted bumpers too. Headlights, order a set or morimoto plug in and play LEDs with smoked housings. It is easy, just have to spend the money. No financing aftermarket parts...

Tremor has the highest trim level in a regular cab. That includes the complete upgraded interior with center console, wheels, HIDs etc. You will not find that in a reg. cab truck of any manufacturer unless you're upgrading it all yourself from a donor truck.

There’s a Fusion running True Street at NMRA this weekend that’s faster than my L. :D

The only time I see trailblazer SS on the streets, they are beat to hell.

This one was nice and shiny, just like my truck. I bet your jaw would drop if you saw some of the cars we see on the regular down south.

Where are you from? Do you live up north or somewhere with salt?

Same as MT.

Was that 98 trap done the same night the Demon ran a 9.65? lol

Also, every 3.5 ecoboost is built better/stronger than the Lightning engines, which have special parts over regular 5.4.

Can you clarify what you mean over this part? Are you saying the 3.5TT has special parts over a regular 5.4, inferring that the Lightning's engine was simply a boosted regular 5.4?
Or are you saying that the Lightning had special engine internals over a regular 5.4?

What is the fail point of a 5.4 Lightning engine and a 3.5 engine can vary drastically. I blew up my Lightning engine making 454rw-499 on a mustang dyno.
Some guys grenaded their engine with a 6 lower and cooler weather.

I've seen some blown 3.5L (non H.O.) fail with tunes around the same HP as mine.

Mine blew up cause the hi-lo fuel pump relay failed on the track. Maybe it could of taken more boost/nitrous for more power, who knows.

Talking about failure points have a lot of grey area, especially when dealing with varying tuners, weather and overall abuse and if the vehicle is purely a dyno queen or gets used.

If you were Ford would you build
A. Raptor based Expedition
B. Raptor based Ranger
C. Raptor with a Predator based engine
D. Re-imagined Lightning
E. Electric Mustang inspired Cute Ute.

I know Shelby has a sportier f-150. It’s ugly and overpriced imho. But I thought I read an article about a possible return but I couldn’t find it.

If they would update the interior of the ranger I would be all over B, I don't get how they could build that truck with the same dash system setup as a 2013 Explorer. I was instantly turned off to it.

I wanted them to build this so badly when I saw the concept. Ranger with the lightning engine, trans, and rear end. Would be a great project if someone could buy a 90s/00s ranger and a wrecked g2 L
