No V8.
No care.

Well, better chance of winning the lotto over Ford putting V8's in vehicles not named Mustang, F-150, SD trims.

They built the new Raptor and GT with a Ecoboost. Only the Mustang remains for performance V8's.

So, Paul, I guess you definitely wouldn't want an EV Lightning. LOL.

Tremor/Ecoboosts will out run a Lightning. I know it is hard for everyone to admit, but youll get there someday.

If you want your own "new" lightning, then just order a regular cab 5.0 and put a blower/opg on it. It will run 10's easy. On these new trucks, you can also easily swap the gauge cluster to a a higher trim level and also add sync touch screen if you do order the reg. cab. You can also easily swap a raptor steering wheel or one your choice. The only fix, is upgrading the interior, IE cloth, bench style seat etc. It will also come with painted bumpers too. Headlights, order a set or morimoto plug in and play LEDs with smoked housings. It is easy, just have to spend the money. No financing aftermarket parts...

Tremor has the highest trim level in a regular cab. That includes the complete upgraded interior with center console, wheels, HIDs etc. You will not find that in a reg. cab truck of any manufacturer unless you're upgrading it all yourself from a donor truck.

Stock for stock a Tremor will out run a Lightning. Lots of 10 second Lightnings out there though. The Tremor never did and never will get the reaction a Lightning does when you see it driving down the road.

I'd love to see even just the flareside come back to the F-150. But Lightning is done, relegated to our memories and the past. A beautiful and truly a "Special" vehicle.
On Ford's current course I doubt performance vehicles will be a priority, unless it's for bragging rights on something electric. Getting the GT500 and Bronco have been like pulling teeth, and they will probably walk away from the Shelby's as the S650s emerge, maybe run a "Heritage" model year like the '04 Lightning, only to sell the remaining S550 parts at the highest markup.
I'm afraid Mustangs are just going to git bigger and bigger, and eventually become a crossover themselves. They just seem like they just dont want to build vehicles with passion anymore, just electric, autonomous people movers. They just build the F series because that's what funds all these feel good, future programs.

Outrun a Lightning where? Gen 1 Lightning sure, but not a Gen 2.
Tremor was slower to 60 or the quartermile of a truck made a decade before it.

I am a Ford guy. Lightnings are badass. Everyone just wants to hate because a v6.

A 4x4 model will beat the lightning stalling up the converter on the line. Stock for stock they trap about the same mph and the lightning has a nice weight advantage if all in stock form (wheels, spare etc)

So, it beats it off the line but the lightning reaches 60 mph quicker and wins the QM race.

Tremor traps 94mph(4x4). 01+ Lightnings trap 101mph+

So, maybe the only thing the Tremor beats the lightning is at 0-60ft.

I don't hate V6's. I hate the effort ford put into the Tremor.

haha you're correct, I absolutely would hate a "performance" truck with a freaking V6. Do not care if the stock numbers are faster than a stock truck from decades ago.

Who the hell compares stock numbers? If you want to be fast, you mod. I'd still pick the V8 all day every day.

I'd speculate the vast majority of Lightnings on the street have been modded to some degree. Stock ones seemed to be very rare when I was buying mine.

I never got to drive one so i can not compare. But i would assume it would ride rougher as they came with a sport style suspension.

Could be why..the 3.5 EcoBoost was new territory for the performance world at the time.

It looked like a badass truck. I bet when tuned it was smoking lightenings that had a tune. I think ford gave it a shot and at the time people did not want a new age lightning. It was all about the crew cabs.

f 150 tremor specs - Google Search

They came in FX2 aswell. Maybe they made more fx4 versions.

The tune made a huge difference! I think the gains with the package were 70whp and 130wtq on 93 octane but don't quote me on that. If Ford built that truck now on the current platform and offered the 5.0 as well it would be a lot more popular than it was then because there would actually be some significant performance gains. I really loved the interior layout of it though with the single cab. Mine was also an FX2 which at the time was all the dealer had on their lot and when I purchased it I was in a bind as my other F150 broke down coming home from California after getting out of the military so I just bought that on the spot so I could get home with all my stuff.

how many times has someone in a V6 anything with an exhaust pulled out of somewhere and you went "damn now that's an awesome sounding vehicle"?

I'm willing to bet 0
Well actually............I like the sound of the Maserati V6 and Buick GN gives me a little chub.

Don't think Ford would do it until EVs are in full swing.

A 2wd reg cab short bed F150 with the 2.7TT/ 10 speed could be pretty fun.

not at my post...
It would be alot cheaper to build your own new age lightning. It would be a personal custom truck. Unfortunately it wouldn't hold any added value for resell if it was planned to sell.

I noticed alot on the forum buy a vehicle , mod it for a year or 2 then turn around a sell them.

I used to that, but I have much better impulse control and pay my cars off nowadays...
