mine was built on 07-22-2002, #1406. Any chance you bought it new?

No I just bought it in 10/2019. It was originally sold in New Jersey than the original owner died the kids didnt want it and sent it to an auction and it ended up in Colorado where I bought it (at least that was the story I was given from the number I called attached to original sell of the car, nor sure if its true). mine was built 11-13-02 (not sure on build number). so mine was built 11 days after the TSB for the head tick. you know it states if the car was built on or before 11/2/02 and has tick to replace head. anyway I was curious to know if yours has developed the tick? I have a tick coming from somewhere only when the car is up to full operating temp. My cylinder head on Driver side is an AG (2nd head version) casting not the AF (1st head version). I was just curious to know since we have close to the same mileage if yours has developed any type of tick. I have never heard of the head tick developing with such low miles but you never know I guess and without being able to talk to the original buyer I don't know if this car was driven extremely hard for the first 3,207 miles it had on it when I bought it or what. half the guys tell me yes it is the beginning of the head tick issue, the other half tell me no way that its the head tick. So I am at a loss here.

I don't believe mine has any tick. Several people requested a video of the engine running and told me they didn't hear anything and that it would be very noticeable. This is the only Ford I've ever owned, but I noticed when the car was new that the engine when warmed up and at idle, sounded noisy (not a tick, just noisy), quite different from other cars I've owned. That all changed when driving the car. The engine would run smooth as silk and once broken in it seemed to quiet down at idle. I don't believe I've ever driven the car for more than 45 miles at any one time. In the case of your car, I thought the tick was more of an annoyance than a performance issue, but I could be wrong. Hard to believe that the original purchaser of your car would beat on it for the first 3000 miles, I wouldn't worry about the head unless you plan to do a lot of aftermarket performance stuff to the car. Enjoy!

Great recent pick up...i'm in Colorado as well and never saw that pass the normal points of sale! I would've been very interested, I've been on the lookout for awhile.

I found it at groove ford in centennial. Right next to it was a 96 mystic cobra and a red 93 cobra, if i would of had the money and a bigger trailer, i would have taken all three home!
