I gotta stick to my guns “for now” on this one. Imo nothing tops a truly mint original black tweed interior on these cars just how they left the factory.

As for today...got the new pump gears and crank sprockets installed in the aluminator. Also received notice that my cold side is done being mirror polished. This should be a very appealing engine bay once done.

Powdercoated and ceramic parts funneling in as well. Went with what’s called a silver vein (which is what Team Z uses on all their parts). Very different but it brings some unique dimension to the engine bay without adding a contrasting color which I ordinarily do....I’m “growing” in my design choices lol

I really like the silver vein. It looks good when its new and hides dirt very well, and is very easy to clean. Good choice.

I've said it before and I'll say it again -- the quality of your work, your taste in parts/mods, and the overall builds are top shelf. It gives guys like me something to dream about and I'd love to have one of your cars in my garage some day.

Thanks for continuing to share!
You’re way too kind. I sincerely appreciate it! Knowing you guys care enough to post creates great motivation
If he continues to build cars he just might get good at it one day...………….LOL!
Doubtful lol:D

You guys gotta see this...While the paint job on this car overall is fairly nice (really just needs cut/buffed). There were obvious shortcuts that I’m now in the stage of correcting before the car is re-assembled. First I painted the mirrors the proper trim black. Now I’m addressing the remaining issues I can find that will prevent the car from being a show winner.
1) the roof had a serious wave in it as if something heavy had been dropped on it. It was clear there was at least “some” filler
2) the body moldings we’re not removed when painted so dried paint/clear were filling some of the cracks above the molding and drove me nuts
3) the door handles needed to be painted proper trim black color as well.

Soooo, my good friends at the body shop began getting after the roof...and THIS is what they uncovered

Yes, that’s not “some” filler...that would be 3/4” of mud. The wave in the roof was being caused by the sheer weight of the bondo. I’ve seen a lot of shoddy work in my day but that is ummm....something

So after working the metal from inside the car they got everything back into form and back to being perfectly smooth with very little filler. The rest of the body is straight and clean.

Old moldings were removed and New door moldings are being painted and installed properly...off the car

Holy crap! Did a tree fall on the car? Hopefully that’s the only spot.

Right! And it is. We went around the rest of the car with a fine tooth combo (and a magnet lol). I really think either something fell on it or even possibly sat on it. Nevertheless, it’s being fixed...much to the dismay of my bank account. Now is definitely the time to address paint and body issues with the interior being completely out of the car. I’ve got a pretty strong eye for paint and I knew the roof was going to reveal something bad...just not that bad. I’m actually quite happy with the rest of the car

I bought an El Camino from Cali once. It was perfectly straight, we found out that the car was so full of mud it wouldn't have passed a nascar templet. When we got the mud off, there wasn't any rust or dents. The guy said he told the body shop he wanted a straight car. He got one...

As many cars as I’ve pulled apart I am no longer shocked by anything. Especially 30 year old Fords from the south lol
