Hey guys and gals,

I'm participating in the second annual Dave's Race to raise awareness and donations for ALS research at Virginia International Raceway in June. It is a terrific event to participate as a driver or a spectator.

Even if you aren't interested in donating, I'd appreciate your time to click the link below and learn more about ALS.

Dave's Race 2020

Please join me in helping fund research for the cure for Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or ALS, a progressive neurodegenerative disease.

Two years ago, I wasn't aware of ALS and what a debilitating disease it is. I met David and Scott Lloyd through a mutual friend at a track event. I raced with them several times and didn’t realize Dave had unfortunately been diagnosed with ALS.

We’ve had a great time together at multiple tracks, and I saw Dave take a podium finish at a SCCA Time Trial competitive event!

I participated in the first “Dave’s Race” in 2019. I can’t wait to participate in the 2020 event with my good friends and meet other supporters!

Whats required for safety gear? Also, open track format or is this an HPDE? Any requirements for past experience to be accepted to drive?

Would love to attend but dont want to sign up and figure out its for prepped cars or guys who have 100+ track days a year.

Props to you, very worthy cause. Blazeman raced Kona one of the years I was there and I got to know his parents. Watching this still brings tears to my eyes. Baddest mother****er of all time.

Safety basically follows SCCA rules. There are limited requirements for street cars running DOT tires. I only run a Snell 2015+ helmet. Drivers are experienced, but you are probably good with 10+ track days. It is open track format with breaks for drivers/workers. I don't know what the passing rules will be for the event this year, but may be open passing on straights. It is basically, more track time than you have endurance, tires, or gas to do.

Thanks for sharing. ALS is a really nasty disease that unfortunately hits some people in their prime. There are a bunch of talented scientist and doctors at ALS TDI. They'll eventually find a treatment or a cure. Dave most likely will not be doing fast laps with us this year.
