Who knew FiSTing was so fun?

It takes fuel normally. I have tried not topping it off and leaving it a few gallons short and it still did it. If I go really short, like a half tank, then it doesn't happen.

Replace the evap vent valve in the back of the car. Its 4 bolts and its located on the back of the canister. The valve sticks and causes a small vapor lock.

This is the same for almost ANY ecoboost car/truck from what ive seen. I had it happen on my Fiesta ST, my brother in law's Fiesta(non-ST) and now my wife's Edge Sport. The symptoms are literally a hesistation/stall at a stoplight after filling the tank.

Yeah, this. Exactly what I said without the usable information leading to isolation and successful repair.....

Here's a story we did on the FiST recently:

https://www.svtperformance.com/threads/supply-is-running-out-go-buy-a-new-fiesta-st-now.1180760/

My longterm average is sitting at 30.4mpg right now and I dont baby it ever. It gets incredible mileage for even having a heavy foot.

We get about the same mileage. See around 36mpg on the interstate.

That’s pretty damn impressive. Do they have any reliability issues? I’ve always liked the Fist, I may look into one whenever my camry decides to retire.
'

The blend door actuators will eventually take a dump. I need to replace mine.

I've heard there are a couple minor things but I haven't experienced anything and there are probably other guys who know the issues better than I do. The only one I have is that after I fill up with fuel the car wants to stall for the first mile or two of driving. No check engine light or anything major from it which is surprising because EVAP issues usually always throw a light for the slightest thing. It's not a big deal to me so I haven't looked into it at all, and I run a mechanic shop if that says anything about how minor it is to me lol.

Mine does that too.

Who makes the best off the shelf canned tune? I’m just planing on a drop in filter and tune.

I like my tuning from @Livernois Motorsports.

Its just shocking to me how much people love those FiST's, hell even just the regular Fiestas. A Lurch I knew in the Navy drove a platinum and I laughed every time I saw him crawl out of it, he was seriously 6'8 and he loved it. If I ever meet someone with an ST Im gonna need to borrow the keys lol.

The regular Fiestas can barely get out of their own way. At 7500ft, they are miserably slow.

It’s just enough power to be entertaining, and it makes turbo noises. The gas mileage is great. It has 4 doors and fold down seats, you can park in any spot, and slide in and out of holes in traffic with ease. I wasn’t a believer either till I drove one.

In traffic, it's like a pissed off 3 year old, running away from his parents in a crowded shopping center. So much fun!

You would be surprised at even the manual version of the non-turbo Fiesta. The chassis tuning, steering feel and feedback are the best in the business. Its curb weight is also quite a bit less than the ST model. IIRC, they run at/under 2500lbs for a no option, manual hatch. An SFE hatchback w/ the 1.0 Ecoboost and a manual would be a unicorn at this point. More rare than an ST, lighter and capable of putting down 170ish hp with a tune and a few bolt ons.

Im still itching one day to build a B-Spec Fiesta. Even without the turbo engine the car is just a hoot to drive with the manual transmission. And these days you can find a non-turbo Fiesta for under $3000 with lower mileage. Swap in the ST rear axle for the brakes and swap in a set of the Ford Racing coilovers. That would be a sick little track car that would last an eternity. Probably 110whp, 2400lbs, disc brakes, 15x7's and 205's. Flat out around every freaking corner. Think of them as a newer version of an Austin Mini.

The autotragic transmission is the worst though. God help whoever buys one of those disasters.

I had one as a loaner while the RS got its new head gasket. Talk about an automotive tragedy... I was frightened of freeway on ramps for the first time in years.

I agree with that. The chassis tuning is weirdly playful for being an actual shit box.

I had one as a rental car in SF and drove it up to Point Reyes in anger in an attempt to kill the transmission. To this day that was still one of the most fun street drives I've ever been on.

Tranny never missed a beat under stress, the only time I could tell it was a piece of shit was when it was in light throttle situations. Drive thru's were the worst.

Is it just me or is the oil dipstick kinda hard to read? I ordered a new one but it was way shorter and didn’t even register.

Yeah it's probably the worst dip stick I've ever tried to read.

Every time I check the oil on my wifes car I say "well it obviously has oil in it". I just don't know how much.

Right? I put 4 quarts in it and was like “ dear sweet baby Jesus take the wheel”.
