Wrong. You happily paid China for the Lithium when you purchased the car. Think of it as pre paying for fuel. The biggest problem with these golf carts is when the tank goes empty they are worthless. I can’t wait for these people who paid 100k for this junk to come to the end of the road in 8 years and realize the car is now worth nothing.
This had me curious, so I decided to check. I haven't looked at used Tesla pricing other than the model 3 in a while, and the model 3 is sort of a stand out because it holds it's value better than a Raptor or a Wrangler. So I'll ignore those.

The cheapest Model S 60 in the US on cargurus is a 2013 with around 140K miles, it's for sale for just under $26k.

That car was $63k new. That's honestly not bad.

Cross checking that with 5 series and E classes, which are pretty similar in MSRP, the Model S is worth quite a bit more (2-3x more). The resale on the Model S follows diesel 3/4-1 ton trucks more than it does sedans.

I run Toyota Prius's in my business and the batteries last 250,000km (150k miles) max. At that point I usually spend the $3500 for a new battery pack because I can run the car up to 500,000k km before it reaches 10 years old. But to the average person, the car would be scrap at 250k km. I don't have any experience with lithium batteries used in Teslas but I have extreme doubts they will last 300,000 miles and 15 years. The batteries in Teslas cost way more than a Prius battery so most certainly a dead battery = car is scrap.

I know someone is going to link to examples of EV batteries lasting 300k but those are commercial vehicles running up and down the highway 24/7 in warm climates. Take a more average use situation where the car runs 12-20k/year and sits outside in sub-freezing weather all winter and the battery life will plummet.

There are many, many, many Prius' out there with way more than 150K miles still running strong. I absolutely hate that car, but won't deny their popularity and pretty rock solid durability. Hell, they warranty the damn batteries for 10yr/150K miles. Seems a little risky that they happen to warranty them for their max lifespan.

Do the batteries degrade some, sure. Just like an ICE, things wear out.

Seems like there is a lot of effort to try to justify a Tesla in this thread. Probably not the best website to try to convince people to see the good in electric vehicles

Yep, and I’m done debating. I’m not going to convince anyone and no one is going to change my mind.

I’ll keep enjoying my appliance.

I have to disagree! IMO the 2020 GT-500 is also a car to be seen in. LOL. Meaning, people usually do a double-take when they see one go by, much to the delight of the driver. It is DEFINITELY a car to drive. Hell, yeah!

So, back to 2020 GT-500 or 2020 Tesla (S)?

GT-500 baby!!! 8 days a week!!!

The people who have Tesla’s are the people who hang multiple water hoses in their garage. That what I got out of this.
I’m sorry I have to water my grass? It’s winter time so I don’t leave them outside....

You all are just reaching now.

You need 6 different hoses to water your lawn? You know they make sprinklers.

You’re joking right?

A timer with 2 zones for the front, one to water the plants, one to water the front grass with a sprinkler, one to water the lower side yard, a 3-zone timer for the upper side yard, sprinkler for the front part, sprinkler for the side, sprinkler for the plants on the side, and another 2-zone timer to water the back with 2 sprinklers. Would you like a f’ing diagram?

Jesus Christ you’re really trying hard to insult me.
