One big thing about Chicago, you can spend more in a day for parking than for your hotel.

yaaa well have to figure something out with that once I decide where we're staying. Once we're there we'll just take the L or Uber

If you have a car with you it will be racking up parking $$ even at the hotel.

it is what it is, in Atlanta there were plenty of lots with day rates cheaper than the hotels but at the end of the day I dont really care.

I always stay with my aunt in Lincoln Park when I go so I can't help with hotels, but I will say the Malnati's on Lincoln/Wrightwood is amazing.

No, there's plenty of $20 day lots. Just to be sure, I pulled up google maps, right downtown on the Loop, searched parking, went to a site, and it's $24 for a 24 hour spot. Leave your car there and hop the L anywhere.

We just stayed in the freehand hotel, it was kind of a shithole. My wife and I go to Chicago a ton. We stay quite a bit at the viceroy hotel. Its right in the middle of downtown action. I’d also recommend the virgin hotel. You’re probably going to pay over $200 though. As for restaurants, check out tavern on rush, the girl and the goat, rpm Italian or steak. Lou malnatis for pizza, velvet taco for late night tacos, and we like the red head piano bar for a cool bar.

I’d recommend skipping the bulls game. You won’t see mj and the bulls suck. Instead, stay in downtown 3rd Ward Milwaukee—kimpton hotel or iron horse. Two amazing hotels, and the night scene in Milwaukee is cooler and safer than Chicago. You won’t get the shopping or culture of Chicago, but you should go to a bucks game instead

What in the hell?

I’ve only been once and I stayed at the Marriott on the mile. It had a good gym (for a hotel) and I liked the location. I’d stay there again.

Hostiles. I just think of the movies.

no doubt. We stayed there with 4 kids—and immediately got a weird vibe from the staff while checking in. Thankfully, the room we were in is not a shared room. The hotel was super dated and just not a place I’d ever stay again. That, and all we could smell everywhere was weed. We booked the trip at the last second and it was the nba All-Star weekend, so options were limited with 4 kids and two adults.

Lots to do in Chicago.

Museum of Science and Industry is recently updated and always being worked on. Just off of Lake Shore Drive.
Field Museum is nice as well
@patc84 - Cabrini green has been gone for many many years. Barrington eh? Nice area, very expensive.....

Portillos is great, but they are always super busy.
Lou's pizza is OK. Nothing to brag about.
Starbucks just opened the largest store downtown. It is several floors with a lot of things to do.
Water tower was redone and is a pretty sweet mall.
Night time horse carriage rides through downtown is pretty sweet.
Rosemount, just out of the city limits is pretty badass. Indoor skydiving, comedy clubs, good places to eat at, Rver's casino, etc.
Download spothero and "ParkChicago". You'll thank me later.
Lots of breweries downtown to check out and on the outskirts of the city limits as well
Want good italian beef? Al's beef.
Good pizza? Pequods. Be ready to wait, though.

Hit me up if you need any other suggestions. Born and raised, llived in Lincoln Square/Ravenswood for 20ish years, then moved to the burbs. Still visit the city often, though.

A++++ reply, very helpful, will definitely read again.

It looks like we're gonna get down to Chicago late Monday morning so we'll have the day to kill until game starts then hang around until mid day Tuesday and head back to Milwaukee. I definitely wanna wander through the Science and Industry Museum everything else we'll probably just play by ear for the most part.
