You realize they started developing that engine like 5+ years ago. Since then, Ford has invested heavily in a completely unproven electric truck maker, launching an electric F150 next year, announced the Mach E, etc.

All those other things I mentioned doesn't mean I agree with them. Just simply stating that many world gov't have made the decision to chart a course towards electric, and virtually all the OEM's have clearly stated their intentions to head in that direction as well. They honestly don't really care what the consumer wants.

they'll care when enough people don't buy the electric garbage and the government kickbacks stop.

These types of videos are always great to start shit. I know since the Model S came out Tesla owners love to jerk it about 0-60's and 1/4 mile times.

I'm curious, how many times do we see Model S' or any teslas doing 1/2 mile or 1 mile events? They sure do seem to run out of steam above 100 as seen in this top gear clip against a 911R

Chris Harris says the P100D is a one trick pony good for 0-120 runs which pretty much sums it up

Well here in America they have this thing called Capitalism. Maybe Ford needs to open a book and learn about how this works. Seriously.

Trump won. China lost. Keep your lithium for phones and golf carts. You want to cut your dick off and drive a golf cart on the street? Go ahead, in America you have the right to be a dumbass.

How often do you run 1/2 mile or 1 mile in the street?

How often do you do a 0-60, 30-70, etc? Yea they excel at daily usable power and speed ranges on the street.

I hope you are right. Gov't welfare has infected every sector of our economy. That is very disappointing.

Unfortunately, I can't think of a single manufacturer willing to buck the trend. They've all bent over to the will of the very vocal, yet very small minority of the population. The environmental extremist crowd are turning the tide.:(

Really just 1/8 mile TBH. Look at the trap speeds that they run in the 1/4. It is all in the first half, they fall apart after that. The are just so much faster in the first half that it does not matter. And they suck at roll racing. Here is one getting walked by an M4 which I would not consider that fast of a car. Maybe on par with a coyote mustang?

The biggest thing about Tesla I don’t like is unless you are a electrical engineer and can somehow get parts for them (which I heard you can’t do) you can’t work on them.

It may be a one trick pony, but its the one trick that counts more often than not.
On the street, where cars live most of the time, the Model S will generally beat the pants off anything in the next lane, period.
If you find a stretch of road where you can leave a light and have time to catch and pass the Tesla, well thats great, but its far from the norm.
The bulk of street races will be 0-100 at best and will be ugly for the guy not driving the gay car ;)

Considering my daily commute is 2 hours round trip all highway with a mix of 80+mph cruising and 30-70 jaunts, quite often. I'm not doing 0-60 digs which is what Tesla's party piece is.

IIRC M4's are bottom 12sec cars stock, can't remember what they trap at though.

Well the beauty of the street is you don't know what you'll run into. Unlike magazine tests where they pair stock car to stock car and the outcome can really be determined with numbers.

The 1/4 mile world record holder P100D which was running at drag week got sent home by an 18yr old ford sedan built off a chassis that dates back to the late 70's. No magazine test is going to talk about that, and /r/tesla won't either.

side note: I hold no ill will against the tesla man at drag week, he was a pleasant fellow to chat with in the lanes
