How’s it going folks, so I started my car today and it started fine but immediately sounded like a misfire and AFR sat at 10.7 then read rich. I turned the car off and tried to start it again but it wouldn’t start. Cranked fine but it wouldn’t start. I popped the fuel reset switch and pressed it and the car started fine but immediately dived all the way down to 200 rpm almost dying (would have probably died if I didn’t cut it off) I also didn’t hear it prime after the first start. It has a KB BAP and a modified fpdm. Any feedback would help! Thanks gents

I'm guessing you still have a returnless fuel system since you have a BAP. Pull the vacuum line to the FRPS and see if it has gas in it or smells like gas. It sounds more like your FRPS blew.

Cool I’ll check that out. Spoke to the previous owner as well. He’s had this issue before where he was at the gas station and wouldn’t start but cranked fine. He replaced the fuse for the fuel pump and that fixed the issue at the time. He also had the fuel pressure sensor changed out and put that disk that KB has to minimize damage to the sensor.

How much fuel is in the tank?

I have had issues on a low tank and when the car is parked a while. Seems to fix itself when fresh and more Fuel is put into it.

it was the fuel pump fuse. Checked it and it was clearly blown. Replaced it and it’s back up. It’s a 30 though. Should I use a 40 from now on?

Use whatever the owners manual shows the size should be.... and keep extra on hand in case you need them.

Glad to hear you're running again!

30 AMP is the correct size if you are running a BAP. I would not run any bigger than that.

What I would do is find out why it blew in the first place. I would start by checking the fuel filter. If it is clogged, it can cause higher output voltage on the fuel pumps and pop the fuse.

Kevin's advice should be your focus now. Find the cause! You're already aware of two instances where the fuse blew. That's not good. It will undoubtedly happen again if the cause isn't determined. Throwing more fuses at it is the bandaid solution.

yeah she started acting up again. If I try to start it a second time I know the fuse will blow again.

a few months back I was getting an idle surge and at first I thought it was an air issue but I decided to drop the tank and when I took off the hat the PPRV delete hose was coming off the main line so I reattached it and it was good BUT I did notice one of the pumps (dual ford GT pumps) filter bag was at the bottom of the tank. I was able to reattach it but it might have fell off again. Could that be it? Any recommendations on either getting new pumps or if there’s a way to secure it?
