Getting ready to pull the trigger on new Brake pads for the fronts, cant handle another season with the dust. Thinking of, Hawk Performance Ceramic Brake Pads (Front),Hawk 2013-2014 Shelby GT500 Performance Ceramic Brake Pads (Front)

Anyone have any experience with these? Price is a little high but if it cuts the dust down I'm game....

As for the MGW, I had one on my 03 Cobra and absolutely loved it. This install is a little more in depth, but with 3 teenage daughters in my house, a little time under my Shelby is much needed!

Lastly, I'm going to have Alternative fix my rear end pinion seal and install 3.73 while in there. That and Nitto 555R in the rear, should wake the car up even more.....

Hope all is well with everyone!

subing for the brake pad info.
I ran them on my '11 and '12, the brake dust was minimal at best. THe hotter they got, the better the bite to. One of the properties of Ceramic I guess.

Did Hawk finally sorted out the front backing plate sizing so it is correct for our cars? For the longest time they did not use the correct backing plate and was selling brake pads for 13-14 cars that didn't totally cover the complete surface of the rotor.

I used Centric Posi Quiet pads as my street pad on my 13 car, they are quiet and low dusting and way better pricing.

There's 2 part #'s 1 is semi-metallic #10416660 and a Pro compound #50016660. I used the 10416660 part and was very happy with it on the street, and are the correct backing plate sizing for our 15" rotors. Check Rock Auto.

Here is a very detailed install video on my MGW on my 07-09 car. The 13/14 should be virtually the same.
Do yourself a favor and get the CHE tq brace as well. I have not experienced a single bit of lockout since installing that. The MGW will most certainly not fix it and will likely cause more of it on its own if you beat the car hard and race it.

The short time I had my MGW Gen 2 I paired it with a Blowfish bracket and located the rear MGW bushing in the proper location on the Blowfish and had no issue with getting 1-2 shifts up to 6500rpm...………….still have the odd lockout shifting @ 7k.

That’s what I’m wondering as well and why I haven’t pulled the trigger. I’ll check out the centric posi’s.

do you have the stock UCA? Stock driveshaft?

I found with mine, pinion angle as well as trans moving under load was the issue.
Proper drivetrain alignment and bracing my trans fixed that problem for me

I installed Porterfield brake pads up front on my '13 due to the excessive dust from the factory pads. Huge improvement. Great pads if you track your car. Same size as the factory pads. I bought them from Van.

I don't really track the car, maybe twice a year a M1 if I'm lucky. Just hate the dust and would like some better performance as well.

I was at stock ride height, had Steeda rear suspension parts on my car and their adjustable UCA and mount adjusted correctly and also stock CF driveshaft.

I basically hated the stupid stock shifter with that dumb design on how it attached to the trans at 1 end and the body the other. The Gen 2 obviously mounts the same but pairing it with the BF and doing a slight mod so the rear body mount was located kinda in the same position as factory worked for me to 6500rpm. I didn't worry about the odd grind at 7k there's no real need to spin it up there for a shift.

If it was braced properly, and aligned properly, it may be your clutch.

Thanks for the videos. I'm going to install the shifter and go from there. I really dont experience the 2nd gear lock out all the time, but dont beat on the car either.

Porterfield looks like a good option. Looking at Hawks website they dont offer Pads for our cars......so I have to assume they've not corrected the size issue.....

Yea if you don't beat on the car, honestly the shifter is kind of moot too. Problem is when adding the shifter it kind of adds to this problem. So you may not have it now, but you may have it after the shifter.

I really hope it doesn't create any issues. Like I said, had MGW on my 03 Cobra and loved it, precise, no slop and just better overall feel. Looking for the same result for my 13...

If you didn't already pull the trigger on those parts I can hook you up with most of those parts at a great price! Just shoot me a message. @Lethalperformance

I've not, but are still concerned on the Hawk Pads that I referenced in the original post. Can you clarify if the size issue has been resolved?

Going to need tires as well, but will wait until spring for those.

Difference is the Cobra is a top loader. Its a diff game with remote mount stuff. Again, if you arent planning on racing it and banging gears it probably wont be as much an issue. Just something to consider

You could just do the rear SS remote mount bushing and solid bushings for your stock shifter and it will help quite a bit. I went this route first and didn't mind it but when at the track and it really counts to get that 1-2 shift and it doesn't happen I wasn't thrilled so that's why I went Gen 2 with the BF bracket.
