I kinda of was briefly considering an SHO and signed up on a forum... Holy shit do they have issues.

Water pump in the block, $1200 repair

Timing chain flex shows up anywhere from 60k to 100k miles

PTUs do not have enough fluid capacity and needs to be changed annually atleast.

Throw some power at it and the transmission gets scared.

I decided to wait an find the right Fusion Sport. I think the 2.7 is much improved over the 3.5

They have fixed some of the issues you spoke of. If you look most of those were from the 10-13s , not saying some of the laters models didnt have issues.

Also sports had massive issues in 2017 with motors taking a dump. Id look at a 2018-2019 sport. I was looking at sports but seems they have much higher miles an cost more than the SHO in the used market

That's a very decent pull and I’m glad to finally see a full E85 option, but it's hard to be impressed when a stock turbo (eBay compressor wheels that did nothing) on E30 put down 450hp at the wheels. He had downpipes, intercooler, CAI, HPFP and E30 tune from AJPTurbo. When he switched to his GearHead tune, he pushed 475 hp at the wheels. He recently upgraded turbos (GearHead turbos) and once it's dialed in, will hit the dyno again and I have no doubt it'll be in the 550+ range at the wheels on E30. He's also run a best of 11.08 @ 126mph (gutted interior) and he’ll be into the 10’s this year if all holds up.

Now Mike, who had Livernois originally build the fastest and most powerful SHO before their falling out last year is throwing the kitchen sink at his SHO. It’s a full custom build (engine, transmission, PTU) and his goal is 1000 crank hp and I have no doubt he’ll be there.

These cars are very easy to get into the bottom 12’s. High 11’s is starting to become the norm to be honest. These cars are too easily overlooked and make great DD’s and with a few easy mods are stoplight warriors.

My 2017 fusion sport has 48k miles on it now. Only issue was when it was new I needed to have the acm reprogrammed due to a battery drain issue. Other than that oil changes and running 12s w a tune and intercooler.

These SHO's are pretty awesome. For the money you can get one used, throw a little $$$ into it and run low 12's. I have run a best of 12.1 @ 113 with mine and it's a blast. Sleeper big time and they come out of the hole pretty well. Easily pull most of the competition at the track due to the AWD. So much fun. Another great thing is coming from Northern Maine, harsh winters...this thing is a beast with a set of Blizzaks. Who needs a truck? lol
