no! but that is just being a responsible parent. I like a buck just as much as the next guy but I draw a line on some things, especially when I know the person I'm dealing with.

If you're directing this post to me it was never my intention to BS you. I'm a lot older then most of you guys on here and I'm just trying to pass along some of my lessons I've learned, all to often after the fact and the hard way. Be your own judge.
if Your son offer you $30k CASH for your 86 . would you still sell it to him ?

I felt good that he would take care of the car and it was a dream car for him. But sometimes people make bad decisions that we cannot control. If I sold it to someone I did not know same thing could have happened and I would not have known so dont give me some bull about knowing or not you never know what can happen or what people will do.

BTW, do you know if alcohol was a contributing factor.

We have similar mind set. I’m in my very early 30 . But I take a lot good advice from older person like you .

Wow, unbelievable survival story! Just curious, what part of Colorado did the accident happen?

That's crazy.

All of you guys that are arguing about selling a car or not selling a car based on the person... As long as they have funds, I'd sell my ACR to a one legged, three-armed, 4 eyed, blind 25 year old with a driving record a mile long.

Glad your friend is ok.

I cringe looking at the pictures though.

So it took since Aug to go to auction I tried buying it back but never thought this would have brought 9k at auction + shipping.

I’m guessing the drive train. Motor and supercharger probably worth that.

So it came time to sell my Cobra with 2 boys and 1 on the way I just did not drive it. Not because I did not have the want but just no time no room for the boys and I don't need tickets or an accident as when I did drove it I drove it... I sold it to a close friend for 30k so I was happy well she made it 6 days! Got to respect the power he lived but hurting.

Sad I sold it with 11,896 miles after 15 years gone in an instant.

Man your buddy had best thank the Good Lord on that one for sure. A miracle he even survived! Sorry to see such a cherry, dream car smashed like that. That had to hurt you to see your baby in that shape.

Wow that's just horrible.
A very similar situation happened with my father many years ago.
He had a 67 Mach 1 for sale and his friend's son wanted to buy it. He urged him not to let his son purchase the car. He was just 16.
Poor kid ended up crashing it into a tree just a few days after he purchased it and he passed away.

Amazing anyone would survive that crash with the top down. That vert is mangled up bigtime. Although im use to the power of my car 800rwhp with the hellion turbo I definitely respect it,pick my spots when i open it up a bit but I usually always have the top up just for that added protection just incase. One thing new owners or new owners to faster power adders is how far down the road you need to look cause in no time you will be there. Makes it bit challenging trying to spot the dip in the road or sand etc. Just about every object is waiting to cut you in half. Definitely pick your spots when you hit that gas on the streets.

I have a vert with a 4 point roll cage and wouldn't have anything less. Top up or down it wouldn't matter to me. Glad that guy is okay
