I checked out that link. That is a nice (rebuilt) pistol for that amount of money. Nice deal.

I looked at it too. I passed up a red box P226 .357 for $499. Looked at it for months at my LGS. Then one day it was gone. I’ve regretted not buying it ever since. I found a used P226 9mm for $500 from the officer that’s had it it’s entire life. Still would like the 357 or 40, $473, plus cc fee plus shipping plus local transfer, it’s up to about $550.

Dont buy a 357. You will be limited to 357. If you get a 40 you can add 357 + 9mm barrel for $150 each.

I bought an ex cop 40 226 for $350 last year. It had some holster wear but shot very well. Better than my legion. It was barely broken in. It turns out cops do not shoot their guns much.

I love the idea of 357 sig, but ****ing hell its expensive to shoot. 40 and 9mm by far are much cheaper to run. I’d do exactly that if I jumped on one of those refurb P229/P226 .40s, pick up a sig barrel in 9mm and mags.

Tough but fair. Another way to look at 357 sig is relative to 10mm. Off the shelf 357 sig loads are actually quite a bit hotter and quite a bit cheaper too.

Another option if you want 357 sig ballistics out of a 40 is to grab Underwood 135s. Super hot and flat shooting. This is a nasty load.

40 S&W 135 Grain Jacketed Hollow Point

As an aside, I took a pair of 226s to range yesterday one in 357 the other in 9mm. After shooting 357 the +P 124 grains out of the 9mm felt like a .22.

What was the total ballpark cost on this build?

Around 2k with the EOTech and Sb arm brace, Geissele offers a 11.5 super duty upper that would be a much cheaper route to take but they use a in house barrel. My URGI clone came with a DD 10.3 barrel that is proven, but they are getting decent results out of the new Geissele barrels.

Very nice! That bad boy is not cheap. Lists for around $3500. Did you buy it new?

I was hoping that would be the case. 100 rounds or so is nothing. Nice score!
Yea, i paid nowhere near that, with everything included.

You know what they were asking for it, and the name of the shop, if you don't want it?... I was just talking with someone today who wanted one.

This convo started in LNC about buying ammo, here is probably more appropriate.

Do you believe that when people face something they are not prepared for that they panic and present a potential danger to you and yours?

Do it for your family.
I think the run on ammo is starting. From when I first posed the question to having just ordered some ammo the 22LR I put in my cart is out of stock now and the 7.62 I put in my cart increased in price. Now should I add a new gun? Don't know if I want to go handgun or shotgun...I have a 92FS, G19, Shield, and .357 revolver. I have a Remington 12ga pump and 1200 (have not shot in probably a decade). If I go handgun I'll stick with 9mm as that is what I have most in stock. Damn decisions...
