I just can’t wait to see how quickly someone throws boost of some sort at the C8 and how it pans out.
It will turn out the same as the C7 as it has the exact same shortblock. The only difference is it has a better intake manifold, exhaust manifolds and slightly bigger cam on the intake side which is how it got a 30hp boost from the LT1.

The base car will still be limited to 600rwhp due to the stock pistons and fueling if it can ever be tuned.

I follow the dude that created this photo on IG. While it does look absolutely sick, the offsets particularly in the rear are impossible on the base car.

yea but this at least highlights what a simple lower and wheel swap does for the overall ascetics.

it also looks like the tail lamps are tinted which would help mask how so so they look

Not really a fan of the C8, but its already 10 seconds faster than the c7 on the ring. Yea I don't care about the ring too, but the car is already an improvement over the c7.

Also, in that pic the c7 has nicer wheels and lowered. Put nice wheels on the c8 and option it with a front end lift kit from factory and it will look like a stunner. GM wasnt the first to put a mechanism that raises/lowers the car (not including suv), but they have put it in something affordable, not a fricken $450k car.

Aside from 0-60, there isn't a ton of performance difference.

.9 seconds between a C8 Z51 and a C7 Z51 on a 2 minute track, the C7 was on a narrower run flat tire as well.

Jim Mero was pretty open about them being able to hit the performance metrics with the FR setup.

I think the C8 looks good. I don't like the rear but it's certainly not offensive. I really want to drive one on track to see if I hate the brakes as much as other brake by wire setups.
It’s a new platform. Give it a few years and you’ll see.

Wasn’t the Z06 and ZR1 close in performance numbers? I believe that’s why Chevy took this change head-on.

It would probably be more accurate to compare an unmodified, first year C7 to the C8.

As pointed out, the C7 pictured has suspension and aesthetic mods. Plus, the manufacturer always makes each model look "meaner" in subsequent years. The C8 will undoubtedly look more aggressive in a couple years -- and that's not even using the upgraded model like the Z06/ZR1.

Dont think GM cared what the Corvette Collective wanted or didnt want. They went a completely different direction. Interior wise the C8 looks light years away from the cheap rattling interior of the prior generation. As for cost wise it would have been a hell of alot cheaper to stay with the front engine style.

Everyone is gonna have a bias on which generation of the vette looks best.

The Corvette Collective is so freakin' brainwashed, they'd buy anything GM built wearing the badge.

Black is a good color for the C8, Ive only seen light colors so far in person. The black hides much of the detail of the car (a good thing in my opinion).

This definitely is going to take me awhile to get use to if i even can. Right now even with all the pictures ive seen im just not into it. Maybe i need to see one in person. Sometimes thats what it takes.

I didn’t like the 2015 Mustang in pics when it came out. Then I saw a Comp Orange in real life and was like “huh, not bad”. C7 is the same in certain colors, I’m sure the c8 will be too.

On a side note, C6 ZR1 guys are getting moist with that value that keeps growing.

I'd like to see a C8 in person before making final judgement but the rear end of it looks terrible. Worse than the C7 rear IMO.

Rear end is terrible. Otherwise the C8 is a win. With a proper set of wheels and stance, it will look killer.

Do we know how far these cars are from getting into hands of customers? I just saw a trailer of about eight of them on US 24 between defiance Ohio in Fort Wayne Indiana.

They were garbed in their regular white covers but they definitely had a short hood long deck.
