Re-read that post. It's 24 minutes to go from 20% to 80%.

Can you imagine taking 24 minutes to fill your gas tank from 1/4 to 3/4?

Can you imagine parking in your garage at night, plugging in your can and waking up to a full 'tank' everyday?

I like them. I wouldn't mind owning one someday. It would be perfect for my wife's DD or to replace my F-150 with a Cybertruck. I would welcome the quiet cruising to balance the violence of my TVS ORH piped '14.
But It wouldn't work for me as a road trip car as I tend to always take the path less traveled to random destinations. I would hate planning my trip around where a charging station is.
Nor would it work for me as a DD as I often travel 200-300 miles in a day in all kinds of climates.

Can you imagine that people who live in cities park overnight on the street?

Haha, that sounds awful.

Look, I get it. EV are not for everyone. There's no doubt they are gaining market share and will continue to do so. I would much prefer a model 3 over the current all electric offerings from Ford, Chevrolet, Nissan, toyota. That said, I'm still holding onto my fossil burner. I hope other manufacturers follow Tesla's approach of normal looking cars with good performance.

My wife wouldn't live in a place where she would have to park in the street. When she could park in the garage in our current house she said she finally wasn't a second class citizen.

I can't even get past the aesthetics, much less how it drives. The thing is butt ugly to me.
Yeah, me as well. I couldn't live with such a stark interior.

The performance and comfort of the Model S (and even the Model 3) is exceptional. But the interiors are just boring as hell. Even the console is bland. It gives the appearance of a dash/console that has not been finished.

My brother has a Model 3, which he raves about. I'm just not a fan. For me there are a lot of other/better choices of petrol powered cars. JMO because I know there are those folks who really like Tesla vehicles a lot. They're not wrong. They just have different preferences than me.

Great review, I’d love to have one for a daily. With a 100 mile round trip commute it nearly pays for its self with how much my ram runs me each month

Have a friend who has an RX450h and she loves it to death.

Any h models better than others?

The now defunct LS600hL and GS450h were both true RWD sedans. Longitudal hybrid transmissions really let the car perform well.

The current LS500 Hybrid and LC500 coupe (based on the LS500 chassis) still have a longitudal hybrid transmission with 3.5L Gas engine. The LCh is a hell of a car, and in some metrics faster than the LC500 with the venerable Lexus 5.0L V8.

The RX450h with rear electric induction motor is pretty fast in its own right. F-Sport, in Sport+ mode MOVES.

Ever sat in line for fuel at Costco? It takes 15-20 minutes around here. I'd imagine that the end goal is to have your car charging while you're shopping. Doesn't start to sound so bad.

So what happens when you have to wait in line at the super charger THEN have to wait for the charge cycle? At least at the pump you know they're out of there in 5 minutes. What happens when EV volume ramps up and everybody has them - what does that scenario look like at the charging station? Time for breakfast, lunch, dinner AND shopping?

It's just like the 'summon' feature - great if you're the only one using it - what happens when everybody in the office 'summons' their car at 5PM to the exit door?

I believe the goal is to do your your commute and charge back to full every night at home for 8hrs.

If your daily commute is less than 150 miles, it would work great.

It's much cheaper than gasoline when charged at home

.....until 75% of those shopping at Costco have all-electric vehicles and half of them are wanting to charge their batteries while shopping. Now there's an eventual problem that might be tough to deal with. There are MANY times I go to Costco for fuel and there are 8 lanes with at least 12 cars in each lane waiting for fuel. That right there is a lot of cars. Today we don't have all that many all-electric vehicles on the road, but as the manufacturers produce more and more of them, eventually IMO there is going to be a charging issue for those traveling.

For us country folk , An EV will never work well .
Can't haul our load of weed to market , 200 miles one way and have to wait around to charge to get back to the crops ....
But really , i drive 150 miles a day , and a charger out in the mountains..... I think not .
And i agree , these things all have 1 thing in common ... Ugly

Good points. I don't have all the answers. Tesla's are very very common around Northern California. Few dickheads even drive them into the Firehouse. Just to be clear, I don't love or hate them. I haven't heard great things about the reliability or build quality. I'm realistically 8-10 years out from buying an electric car for myself. So basically I'm in no rush. *To be clear* It would not replace a vehicle like my...soon to be...Toyota Land Cruiser. I never intended for it to be either.

Currently saving up my pennies for a Toyota Land Cruiser.

My brother has a Tesla 3. I'm pretty sure he has a charger in his garage. And his daily usage is nominal. So for him, an electric vehicle is a natural. The majority of his charging is done with his garage charger. That scenario would work for me.
