Look guys i know this is a very subjective question/topic but i just want to get you alls opinion on this matter. What is the deal with the valuation of our 03/04 cobras? I see people putting their cars up for sale with 20k less mileage for like 30k plus. Even cars with 100k miles people are asking 20k plus. Whats the deal? Are they selling at these prices? Or are they pipe dreams?

A person selling is welcome to list what price they want. Some will sell some won’t. Terminators are turning into a sellers market, less are coming up for sale. More WTB ads. I’d look at eBay to try and gauge actual selling prices not here.

Terminators are still very desirable. They are getting harder to find unmolested and the people that liked them when they came out are starting to buy them, driving the market up.

You can see a very wide range of prices on Terminators, the difference in price is clean vs molested. The guys that don't hack them up can still get good money for them, and people will pay for a nice car.

Sellers can always ask what they want. IMO, the prices have hit their peak.

- Mid 30s for a very tastefully modded (VMP, Whipple or KB car) with very low miles and in pristine condition.

- Low 30s for a very low mile and pristine condition car.

- high 20s for low mile cars in fantastic condition.

- mid to low 20s for modded cars in great condition.

- high teens for higher mileage cars.

- mid tens for higher mileage with flaws.

In my opinion prices have not peaked. We’re only now within the past couple of years starting to see the beginning of low millage terminators fetching good money. And the modded and High millage cars will follow. That’s only going to increase from here on out. These cars were not mass produced by traditional standards and have a huge following and amazing history, as well as they are still a benchmark for most modern day mustangs to compare to. The car is unique in that it’s a true muscle car experience to drive one, no bells and whistles or fancy interior just raw power. Those characteristics are what makes this car still valuable and popular $$$.

These cars are definitely NOT a benchmark anymore. No even close. They are awesome cars but they have been surpassed. Many much better options for anything higher than mid $30Ks.

$40K price tag opens up much better selection of cars.

It will take a very special circumstance and a buyer with a ton of money for an 03/04 to go for high $30Ks.

I’m on numerous forums for the coyotes and terminators and there’s constant posts every single week debating which to buy and which is better as well as tons of YouTube videos of newer cars purposely racing terminators and still being amazed at how well they can perform for a car that’s 16 years old. As for buyers paying upper 30s, there’s been PLENTY the past few years that prove it’s not just a few people with money and extreme circumstances. Judging by the non stop wtb ads i see on this site and countless others, that will only Continue to increase.

Im not just talking about Coyotes, my man. Once you jump into the 40s, you have a whole other bracket of better / badder cars. Shelby (to include Trinity), ZL1s, Z06, Vipers, etc.

If you could show me some examples of Terminators going for high 30s /40s (38k+), I will be more likely to concede the point.

I agree with that a generation that loved these cars are now in a financial position to buy them.

In the same account it's they have a love for the car. Not so much of is it faster than coyote or other cars etc. It's what he/she aspired to want and have a passion for.

They want to own a Terminator because its what they fell in love with at the time.

I myself love the 90's Cobras. They are not by any means fast in modern world, but owning them and driving them makes me feel alive and passionate for the era of where i learned to love cars.

Historians say the music you love in your youth and high school years is and will be your favorite for your life time. I feel the car era is the same thing.

You nailed it.

I was on one of the vintage mustang boards and there was discussion on how a 69 428 super cobra jet Mach 1 sold on Barrett jackson recently for very cheap. People believe that the generation that grew up desiring these cars when they were young are now retiring/dying so these cars are coming up for sale and younger people don't care as much about them. This is causing the market to fall on these cars. Same thing happens with Street rods, for every one that gets into them 2 older people die/gives them up.

This is happens on most collectables and terminators will be no different. I'm 37 and remember when these cars came out new, I always wanted one and now can afford to own one. I'd pay top dollar for the one I want so I'd drive the market up.

The next generation thinks of these cars as slow and lacking comfort features. They have little interest in them so when there aren't enough people like me wanting one in the garage Terminator prices will begin to drop.

I've had 3 foxbody's , I remember when the terminator came out, watching them at NMRA events....I was impressed. Last year a buddy that has an 03 convinced me to get one. I drove his car and began to see what he meant but it wasn't until I got my own that i really developed the love and how the terminator craved power. IMO, I see them holding their value for many more years.

Id say this sounds about right but of course you have the guys that see this and think their high mile car with issues should go in the 20s because they see other terminators in the 20s. It's the same guys that list their 100k mile lightning with a bad title for 12k when a good title truck is 15 - GTFO

I buy terminators because this was THE car when I was in highschool.

I'll never forget the first time I saw a Mystichrome terminator at a local car show. I knew I'd get one eventually..

I'm on #5 right now. All over the spectrum of "clean" to "Modded" to "flaws".... I can say, out of the 5 I have owned, I've only sold 1 of them for less than I bought it for, and that was because it had a hurt motor...

FWIW I just paid 26 for a CLEAN low miles 21k mile Sonic blue with a KB on it. And I thought that was a decent deal.

I think these will more or less end up as the 90s Supra did. The prices on those are unreal for a clean one. For $60K-$80K you can get a clean ass supra. For $60K-$80K you can get many cars that are light years beyond the 90s Supra, yet people are still paying it.

I can see your guys point, but I must be the exception to the rule. I was born in 67 and my all time favorite/coveted car is the 65 Mustang. According to your guys logic I should be desiring an 80's car (i.e. a Fox Body).

Now, I will concede that while I was in high school my next door neighbor had a 65 Mustang and I always wanted one. So, my desire for a 65 Mustang developed while I was in high school, but it wasn't the car of the time, it was already a 20 year old classic when I was 18.

So, although I do agree timing plays a part, it is also what you're exposed to/experience is that contributes to your desire for a specific car IMO.

Lastly, to the OP's topic. I think in general any car that is coveted "will" increase in value as demand increases and supply decreases. I think the Terminator WILL continue to increase in price. My example is NOT the Terminator itself, but the Fox Body Mustang. Look at how many Fox Bodies were produced compared to the Terminator. The last Fox Body was built in 1993. The Terminator did not come out for another 10 years.

Look at Fox Body prices now. Considering that, imagine how much Terminators will go for 10 years from now? Sorry, but I don't see Terminator prices falling any time soon.
