Here is a small write up we did on the Griptec pulleys: GripTec Supercharger Pulleys

If you need a certain pulley and do not see it listed on our website, please do not hesitate to send me a message or give us a call.

I have a Reichard 3.0 and 2.6.....that I love....but that griptec looks nice as well! Good write up and customer service, too.

I've been running a 2.6 upper on my tvs that I had carbinite coated.

I'd like to try one of these if a 2.6 is available. I'd like to see how much belt dust these create compared to the carbinite coated one I currently have.

There is a definite increase in belt dust. From the limited time I had it on. I clean under the hood once a week.

I imagine any kind of surface made for extra grip is going to lead more belt dust. I remember hearing the Reichard Racing pullies were basically saw blades on belts. But they gripped hard.

I have a 2006 Mustang 4.6 3valve with a Roush 2.3 TVS. I am currently using a 3.5 inch pulley on the TVS and a stock size crank pulley. If I want a 69mm pulley, is there some sort of formula to figure out what size idler pulleys I need or if I need a shorter belt?
Will the 69mm pulley fit without machining or modifying the supercharger snout?
Does the micro-machining wear out?
Thank you.

Any updates on this? Anyone tried one of these and noticed a difference? Threw a 2.7" upper on my 2.3 TVS (4# caged lower) and am losing a small amount of boost past 5000 RPM's. Previously was on a 2.9" and had no boost loss. FWIW the car feels insane with this pulley combo.

Have you looked into Carbonite Coatings? I think a couple guys on this board have used them with success.

they seem to be popular for the PD blowers on newer cars. The Dodge procharger guys have had good things to say as well. I ended up buying one for my procharged Mach but havent gotten it back on the dyno to see what kinda boost its making.

I was looking at that carbonite coating and that looks pretty awesome. How's the belt wear been on something like that? As far as how's much I drive it I'd say I'm at maybe a 1,000 miles a year.

Regardless of which grip technology one goes with.....you will see by far the lowest accumulation of belt dust with the gates RPM belt. You'll also get maximum longevity. I'm on year 3 with the RPM. The regular gates or gatorback belts I was changing yearly (1k miles). That's with the "saw blade" RR 2.6 upper.

Try the new RPM gates belt. Ment for supercharged motors. Supposed to get ride of belt slip. I have one on my 2.9 Whipple and have no slip

In my research the carbonite coating was similar to 60 grit sandpaper and even at 1k miles you might not make it 1k miles on a belt. GripTech claims belt wear is about the same as a belt thats slipping.

I had an RR pulley on my car and the ribs are slick outside of the cuts across it. The GripTech pulley is textured across the ENTIRE surface. I can't see how it's not going to be better.

I wish gates made an RPM belt in my size, I keep checking and hoping

I think I may try one of those RPM belts first. I've honestly never heard of them. I just read an old thread on them and people were saying they found the RPM belt was happy at a somewhat "loose" tension which is about where I'm at anyway. I could probably avoid all of this and go a belt size down but I literally had to stand on the tensioner with a breaker bar to get that smaller belt on. I don't like the belts that tight.

I'm running a carbonite coated 2.6 tvs pulley. I've thought about trying a griptec pulley as well but....

I sent a pm to a lethal performance member on here, which was very little help and emailed griptec twice with zero response.

At least the people at carbonite coating have great service.

They work, but lots of belt dust. I can't get myself to try the rpm belt. Couple of reasons. I have heard of countless people snapping belts, and I really don't want to keep messing with tension to see how much it takes to achieve all the boost and not snap a belt.

At least with gates green belt or a gatorback I can snug it down.

how often are you running through belts with that pulley? Like you I don't know if I wanna travel down that RPM belt path.

Not often. I only put 600-800 miles on my car a year. It will only wear the belt down faster the more you go full boost.

Heck, I wouldn't care if I replaced a belt once a year, but it's not even close to that.

The picture below is with a gatorback, creates twice the amount of dust compared to a gates green belt.

This was with a couple hard pulls.

Yeah that's not terrible. I think I may try this $50 RPM belt and it it snaps I'm out $50. Then I'll go with that Carbonite as a backup. It's actually only for this upcoming season as the blower is coming off next winter.
