RED LINE / ROYAL PURPLE / MOBIL 1

I did search with no help. Im in Australia and own a 2002 Mustang Cobra.
has 165,000 kms (100,000 miles). I have noticed we have Red Line oils in my state. Currently using Royal Purple 5W30. Seems a great oil. Plenty of Zinc. Previously used Mobil 1 for years.

What is Red Line oils like?

Do I stick with RP or go back to Mobile1? Or try RL?

Steve, I'm going to recommend that you browse BobIsTheOilGuy website. It's loaded with all kinds of great oil-related topics. Overkill, honestly, but great info. This specific page there is good reading. It discusses the question, "what brand should I use" and "which oil is best". You might be surprised by the answers. BobIsTheOilGuy is a great oil related website. I highly recommend it. Like I said, you'll find lots of great info, and if you still have a question you can always post it on one of their forums.

Spoiler Alert! You're not going to find a specific oil brand recommendation there because everyone has their personal favorite and needs vary. What you choose depends on factors like.....
1. What kind of vehicle you have.
2. What your owner’s manual says — not just viscosity, but certifications (look for acronyms like API SM, ILSAC GF-4, etc.) and change intervals as well.
3. Where you live.
4. How you drive (easy? hard? fast? slow?).
5. What your daily drive is like (short trips? long trips? city? highway?).
6. Whether your car has any known problems (leaks, oil consumption etc).

In general, any quality motor oil brand (regular, blend or full synthetic) that meets your vehicle's requirements is a good choice. Regular oil/filter changes are really important. I used to change the oil/filter in my '03 Cobra every 3K miles, religiously.

My own personal comments on the three brands you mentioned. Red Line and Royal Purple would be preferred over Mobil 1.

This. Any of those are fine choices.

Thanks fellas. Chose to stick with RP.

Once again I am the Philistine.
I just make sure I use a Motorcraft or Mobil-1 filter or RP, then pick up any synthetic 5w30 oil (7 quarts) that is on sale. I change my oil every 7k miles, with a level check at the half way mileage mark.

Soon I'm going to try adding moly Ceratec on the Audi first....
