I think this will be interesting.... if it takes off....^^^

If you have a unique mod or mods, let's hear about it. Nothing that can be bought and bolted on... we can all do that. I don't mean a shortie antenna that's no longer made! I mean something creative, unique, maybe something you invented, built and installed, etc..... or maybe just an idea that you'd like to implement but haven't because of countless reasons I can only imagine. It can be simply cosmetic and/or functional. I have a "few" but will hold back for now.

Any creative geniuses here? Anything out of the box....

Didn't care for aftermarket air boxes, I modified my stock one on my 14 to allow a 140mm MAF to pass through it.

Also, all of my exterior snakes are hand painted by me.

The power steering cover was unfinished with visible welds, took a belt sander to it & rattle canned it semi-gloss black.

I remember the ex-SVTP member who used to make shifter handle re-location brackets for the Pro 5.0. At one point he sold them on my website.

More personally, way back in 2003 an SVTP member asked me to make him a gasket for his shifter to eliminate the sound. A couple of other guy here wanted to try it. The rest is history. LOL.

The absolute first mod I made was to shave the cheap looking third brake light and replace it with a double row, 300mm COB LEDs located in a housing I fabbed. It sits on the inside upper center rear glass, basically only seen when on.

As for the trunk lid, the hole was filled with a steel panel, welded then smoothed. The stock plastic letters were replaced with a duplicate but in steel, waterjet cut, with a CNC machined groove, then chromed. You can't tell these from stock unless you know what you are looking at. Anyone else done anything similar to their backside?

Next up, I think I'm gonna get into performance mod you've probably never heard of, nor seen....

Looking forward to see some of your custom performance mods on your GT500. I have a few unique mods on my car. These are custom designed by myself and 3D printed in either engineering material or aluminium.

Do tell...! This is the kind of stuff I love hearing about. Sharing ideas.

Neat thread, I have a few but my car is a terminator

It doesn't matter. It's the "idea" that counts, so go for it...!

I'll start with probably my simplest, easiest performance (if you can call it that) mod: I built a very simple circuit that makes my traction control default to OFF when starting the motor. I never have to remember to turn it off manually. Kind of helpful at the track where there's oftentimes a lot of things going on... and remember... I could have always just turned off the function in the tune, but if I can do what I did, there is no need to permanently disable it.

Installing the 2013/14 I/C pump in the 2013/14 timing cover location on my 2008, while also working around the P/S pressure line that is in the way for the 2013/14 pump mounting............and also keeping everything looking like Ford put it there with correct fasteners, etc.

My unique mod would be my one of a kind airbrushing by my buddy who does the art work for Steven Tylers motorcycle company, Dirico Motorcycles. Both cars were done as a one off airbrush that he does by hand. Wont do another one, so one of a kind on both of my stangs.

On my VMP 2.65 I didn't like the Superman logo so a friend thats a fabricator hand cut me a plate out to cover the logo, I powdercoated it black and added the SVT logo. I also modified the stock belt guard to fit the 2.65 and powdercoated it black. I like the look but I've also snapped a couple of belts so the cover is nice to have.

I found a relay that works off a timer and wired that into my hobbs switch so once my second pump is triggered it keeps the pump on for a minimum of 10 seconds instead of triggering the pump only while in boost. This helps eliminate split second engagement of the second pump while playing with the throttle.

Lastly I wanted a 4lb caged lower pulley so I had these pulleys machined (ended up selling about 40 to other members) mine is the prototype and it has some minor changes so technically its different.

Tried my hand and hand laminating some of the textured plastic pieces with carbon fiber for a fraction of the cost of actual carbon pieces. Came out decent but it's a very time consuming process. Currently working on a few other carbon fiber projects as well. Just dont have the free time I need to work on them.

20190812_213348.jpeg

Sanded down with 120 grit paper

20190826_181330.jpeg

Initial wet layup, was a massive pain to get the fiber to stay stuck down in some places

20190904_200152.jpeg

Epoxy resin layers finished ready for clean up

20190915_221040.jpeg

All edges cleaned up and resin surface sanded with 120, 400, and finished with 800 grit paper

20190916_145652.jpeg

Clear coat laid down. Looked nice and glossy but left an orange peel texture

20191016_180712.jpeg

Wet sanded with 2000 and 3000 grit paper and ready for polishing.

20191017_212414.jpeg

Finished result, still have to put it on the car though.
