Great story of bravery and sacrifice in the midst of racial inequality. Never knew there was so much racial disparity aboard ship in WWII.

He was deff a hero who was gone to soon. As a Navy vet I’m glad to see this. I would be proud to serve on a ship with his name.

It wasn't until President Eisenhower that the military was desegregated.
