Well, there's the economics of feeding the beast. .50BMG isn't cheap. Even if you load your own, eight pounds of powder only gets you twenty rounds, if I remember right.

If that didn't talk you out of it, then it's meant to be!

I had the same dream about owning a fifty...it has faded.
The stuff i have been reading about 50BMG it seems the stories are better than the truth.
Recent updates and comparisons have it like this.....
If you want to place shots on the side of a building at a mile choose 50 BMG....
If you want to place shots on one of the doors on that side of the building at 1 mile choose something in .338 Norma Magnum.
Rumor has it 338 Norma will be replacing 50 BMG in some of the heavy machine guns....just rumor so far

Seriously, I've been asking myself more and more why I don't have something in .338 Norma Mag.

So, trying to decide what to spend that windfall profit margin from TOB's GT500? :D

Seriously, what if every customer who strolled into your store purchased only the car they NEEDED? Your livelihood depends partly on people who buy more than NEEDS and move squarely into the WANT category.

I think you owe it to the Barrett family to get that firearm! In fact, it's your duty!

I usually have an adjective when I walk into the gun shop, but once I see shiny red balls I black out and handle the aftermath like a boss. Sooo many times I’ve gotten home and realize I’m running out of room in my safe.

With that said, but that Barrett and enjoy the hell out of her!!

Oh how I know about big bore shooting. This is my 458 Lott next to a 458 Win Mag and a 7.62X39mm for comparison the 458 Lott has about 6100 ft lbs of muzzle energy and can dro[p a 7 ton elephant with a head shoot at 250 yards. The neat thing with the 458 Lott and the veery similar 450 Watts mag is they can also shoot the 458 Win Mag out the same chamber since all of them is based on a necked up 375 H&H mag case except that they are trimmed down except for the Watts as it uses an unaltered 375 case.

Id say go for it! I have been collecting for 40 years and rarely do I shoot now. Somehow that has not stopped my infatuation with bullpups. I have a Tavor and KelTech and have never shot either.

On a side note...I do think about Feds monitoring who buys what and adding it to their database. I did get a call back from a dealer after I ordered a "huge lot" of .223. I have also thought about night vision, FLR etc. and what will trigger my name going on the "list". Buying a Barrett would worry me as I don't trust any of the govt unelected mgt...

DON'T DO IT!!!! Not the M82A1, get the M107A1 so you can run a suppressor on it. The M107A1 has internal modifications so you can run a suppressor. I mean, why bother owning a 50BMG if it doesn't have a suppressor.
