812 is barely faster around a circuit than a track pack gt500 based on comparing lap times.

7:27 is the listed Nurburgring lap. The gt track pack is gonna fall somewhere around 7:30-35, and a cftp should dip below 7:25. Maybe 7:20. C7 Zr1 was like 7:07 iirc.

Gen 5 zl1 ran 7:42 iirc, trinity gt500 around 7:40 dead. Honestly I’m surprised we haven’t seen times yet there for a cftp car, it will do excellent there.
Nobody does lap times at the ring anymore . Its only interesting for the all out record. Everything in between means less than a wet fart.

Anyone else notice that the hellcat started to reel in the 500? Yet the trap was higher on the 500? Weird

That's why I said it before , test was fake . They didn't even time those runs . They pulled those numbers from other magazine tests . Superfast won't be nowhere close to 10.5 on such of dusty surface and no launch control

finally something that got me excited about this car. I admittedly went down the rabbit hole a bit and finally watched Leno's segment on it - that all black track pack rolling down the road is gorgeous

Wow that’s impressive, it’s that close to a GT3 RS. Well done ford.

Pick your poison.

It technically would have beat the GT3 but if you watch the video he almost lost it in the last turn. He starts yelling "I got it" or something along those lines.

He's on a starightaway when he loses it which is odd. I think he realizes he's overcooked that next turn, but i've never been on a road course so...

I mean it's cool that they are both very close, but can't wrap my head around why everyone is so impressed with the 500. It has something like 250 more HP, DCT, aero, super sticky tires, etc. To me, the fact that the GT3 can keep up, given it's massive, let me say it again, massive power disadvantage is pretty amazing as well.

Maybe because the GT500 is something +900lbs heavier. The 3RS definitely has an advantage in everything else you mentioned, yup, including DCT which porsche has been perfecting on street cars 2005. 3RS is also nearly double the price too.

If this was straight line racing only, I would agree, but this is the overall performance of the cars. I'm impressed a 4000+lbs is keeping up with a 3RS, but we already know it won't do it consistently, lap after lap.

The GT3 doesn't have all that? It is Porsche race car for the street.

Ford said they tested it to hot lap. A couple videos of the front bumper off, it has massive coolers for the diff and transmission.

I'd be more concerned about tire overheating with a car this heavy and fast. Unless Michelin has some real special sauce in these tires, I have a feeling they won't lap consistently.

Also, anyone who has been on track with a 3RS and a decent driver knows they punch well above their hp ratings. The first (and only) time I got passed by a 3RS in the GT350, it felt like it had 100hp more than I did. It seemed way, way faster in the straights than the ZLE's I've been on track with.

The GT4 is the same way with 365hp. I spent a few laps going back and forth between one of them in a 6th gen Camaro SS and because he was timid in the braking zones I could keep up. There was no advantage in the straights.

This x100. Porsche HP is different than everyone else's HP.

Price wasn't part of the discussion. Performance on track was.

I am not taking anything away from the 500 either. My point about the hardware was to highlight it has basically all the same goodies that the GT3 has, plus an extra 250hp. To run even with the P car just doesn't seem all that impressive to me, and certainly wouldn't boast about it. It's like a badass heavyweight boxer talking smack after earning a draw against a highly skilled welterweight. Just doesn't sound right.

Still stupid fast by any measure.

The power to weight ratio on the Porsche is better than the 500 so not sure the extra 250 is an argument for the 500 having an edge.
