Why did you sell the vortech car? seems just a converter would have put you where you want to be now. You should look at Riddick's build posts, he is running the GEN2R with what sounds like you are looking for. He is currently updating the suspension to get to the 9s.

I sold it because I'm an idiot. I really should have just put a converter in it and been happy.

I will look at his thread. Thanks!

Hey sorry man, wasnt trying to be rude. When I first got my setup together i appreciated your help. I sometimes wish i went a VMP after racing with a few different simple setups but I havent really seen a lot of whipple setups here. Good luck on decision, look forward to the posts.

It all depends on your budget and what your goals are. If your funds are endless I would go with the Gen 5 Whipple hands down, not many S197 guys have this set up but its proven on the s550 platform.

The VMP Gen 3R blower is a nice option but I personally feel the Gen 5 Whipple is capable of more.

The VMP Gen 2R is going to be the cheapest option for sure but its no slouch. There are always used set ups out there for sale that you can score if you time it right. On dedicated race cars (lightweight) they have been 8s on a Gen 2R and several people have been bottom 9s on this set up in true street car. On a 82mm pulley on pump gas I went 10.50s and on E85 the car has ran in the 10.20s@140, this is only 9 psi of boost. The Gen 2R is capable of making close to 850 when combined with a set of cams

No worries I didn't take any offense. It was more of me kicking myself for selling a sorted, reliable car. I drove that car 2 hours to the track and went 10.4x three times and drove it home with no issues. I want something like that back in my life.

I agree with the Whipple comment. I havent seen many outside of the S550 platform but they seem to work very well there.

Hey Wist!

Glad to hear that you're considering us for your next upgrade. We are happy to help out with any questions or concerns you may have about our blowers.

As far as failures go, our failure rate is actually below 1%. The majority of lock ups that we encounter are due to incorrect installation of the bypass valve, or not running the correct bypass valve for your set up.

We haven't built the company into what it is today by selling problem prone superchargers and not honoring our warranties.

Thanks to everyone in here recommending our products!

On my Facebook group, TVS/Whipple/Kenne Bell Coyotes (not telling you to leave here and go there), I maintain et lists for Manual cars, 6R80 cars, Anything Goes ect. There is a 7 second VMP Gen 3R car and a 7 second Whipple Gen 5 car on the Anything Goes list. Both blowers have made over 1200 rwhp in very serious builds.

Head units locking up are definitely not the norm for VMP TVS's. I've been running them since 2013 and have heard of very, very few issues in the 5+ years running my group (6,900+ members).

Badass, you liked it so much you got the same car. That with an aluminator and a Gen2R with a little weight reduction and dragpack gonna be a nassssty street car.

I would like to revisit this thread please.
Give me your opinions on this.
2012, Roush blower with cams and larger exhaust valves making 790s on 13lbs. I think I am out of blower. Can't go any smaller on the pulley, "blower snout has already been cut down". Circle D converter. Driven occasionally on the street with some track outings, "mostly 1/8 mile"
If I upgrade the blower to make more power which one would you guys go with and how much more power do you think it would make?
