The '02 Lightning that's been in the family since new broke 305k miles this week. I made Pops vow to tell me if Mommadukes ever makes him sell it and I'll double whatever anyone else offers or to leave it to me in his will (he has half jokingly said he wants to be buried in it).

I wish I knew half as much about diesels as I do mustangs, I kinda want to get one in the next couple of years but know exactly nothing about them. Any advice on where to go to learn a thing or two?

Wife bought a camper that my '14 FX4 struggled to pull so took that as a sign/excuse to upgrade to the 3/4 ton diesel world. After two failed tries to buy Platinum and King Ranch F250s I went with my overall favorite and got a '17 Denali HD with the L5P. It's expensive as hell to tune and delete these right now so that's going to wait awhile, but will be done. Soon I'll be looking at a custom trailer to tow the Cobra, tired of lining Uhaul's pockets.

All of the big 3 (Ford, Dodge, GM) were pretty damn simple and easy to work on prior to the introduction of common rail injection which all of them went to around 2002-2003.

The Cummins remains the easiest to work on and cheapest of the 3 to replace what i would call a "wear" item--injectors.

With mods, the Ford and the GM trucks will make more power easier than the Cummins although the v8s make power higher in the RPM range. The Cummins is torqey'er sooner.

Ford has the best transmission even going back to the early 2000s. The 5r110 and 6r140 are BEASTS and can take 450-500whp worth of power mods before having to upgrade.

honestly if you dont NEED a diesel I'd think twice. The purchase cost is higher, the maintenance costs are higher (~16 quarts of oil, 2 filters, fuel filters etc...) and the repair costs can be through the roof. The power is amazing though, especially on the newer trucks. There's no ****ing room to get to anything either. Our next superduty might be a 7.3 gas motor

Just cleaned her up using ONR because water and buckets are out of the question up here in MA. Getting ready to pull the trigger on an exhaust real soon.

Really don’t want to go wild on this pig because it will be handed off to my oldest who will beat the snot out of it. Gives me an excuse to get the latest and greatest F350 so I’m game.

A Cummins is easier to work on than a Mustang in my opinion. The v8’s have zero room and are completely impossible. If you’re buying one to mod and work on yourself stick with a Cummins. If the extent is your own wrenching is an oil change then get whatever you want and leave everything else to the dealer.

Specs on this please! Since Frontiers are one of the last trucks equipped with manual...they are on my radar!
And yours looks perfect! Great color, crew/long bed, mild lift with meaty tires on stock wheels!
How well does it tow...? What gears & trans are in it?

It did just fine pulling the Bullitt from California back to Boise. It was working hard going over Donner Pass, but it handled it just fine. It has a ~3" NissTec suspension lift lift on it in the picture and I've since added a 2" body lift to eliminate the the front tires rubbing the fender liners at full-lock (with only occurred hitting bumps at full-lock). I loved my 2000 Frontier so when it was time to get a new truck, I found a long bed CC with the manual trans. I love it. The only downside is it turns like a barge in parking lots. I guess that's common to all the second gen Frontiers long or short bed.

Nice! What number Bullitt is that?

The previous owner scrubbed the number off the sticker in the engine bay. I still haven't pulled up the rear seat to find the number. Maybe I'll do it right now. Haha.I have a 1999 Cobra engine, trans and IRS that will be going into it.

Question for the guys with the newer 5.0 liter trucks I’ve did 2 oil changes since January and my truck has been 2qts low both times. Anyone else run into this and what conversation have been had with dealer. Tia
