That's an amazing result from a $300 home printer! Very cool.

When I ordered a Roush vent mount pod a few years back for a boost gage it took forever to arrive. Apparently Roush couldn't keep up with sales? Of course once it was ordered and paid for I read on a forum somewhere that you could buy them on Ebay for half the price. Some guy 3D printing better fitting pods at home.

You are clearly talented. Go forth and make $Millions.

I wish!

not at my post...
Cool stuff. Someone out there printed some AR lowers but I do not know how good they held up.

I have seen some 3D printed trigger groups for AR lowers too. I actually have a polymer AR lower, not built by a 3D printer, it’s one I bought. If similar material is used in a 3D printer I think it’d hold up well.

Trigger groups printed in metal? I have 2 Poly80 AR lowers, and a few different P80 Glock lowers. I haven't built the AR lowers, but the Glock ones have been 100% so far. I don't see a AR lower with what is readily available filament wise to most home users working/lasting. I am sure someone has already tried/trying it though.

Nothing that your friend told you is true.. LOL!
THAT is interesting, Jeff. My buddy has been known to talk some untruths. This time I thought he knew what he was talking about. I was wrong. LOL.

Now, you can do what he is saying, like if you want to scan in an object, but that is the only reason.

That's really cool, Jeff. So, I was talking to a friend of mine tonight about 3D printing. He was saying you basically use a scanner tool to prep the 3D printer. Is that true? And that for a working setup you'd need a 3D printer, monitor and scanner minimally. I know nothing about 3D printers.

As hissman said this is not correct. There are so so many templates out there that you can make so much from these templates with out even needing a Scanner. The advantage of the scanner is if you have a 1 off that you can't find/modify/create your own template you can scan it and have it but for sure not needed.

Hissman this is really cool. I have gotten into 3D scanning a bit and once I got good at it I was going to start 3D printing. I will have to look into the printer you have. Thanks for sharing.

Thanks back at you! This printer has been going non stop since Christmas. I do recommend this upgrade kit. Everyone says that the machine runs even better with it. I have it, but I haven't installed it yet. The one item in the kit that I do see as a need is the bed springs. The stock springs just don't hold their position well enough, and I need to make small adjustments to the bed height after a couple models are made. The replacements should hold the bed level almost indefinitely.
