I’m not blaming AJE for this as this setup has been on the car for over 10 years and I used to live about a mile from the ocean. I wanted to get that out there up front.

Do you all think is something that I should fix or should I replace the entire setup?

By fix, I mean taking the k member to a welder and have some plates made up so I can use factory style mounting for the rack.

If replacing is the best course of action here, what does everyone recommend for a 2004 chassis, mostly strip car? I was eyeing the QA1 as it looks the most robust outside of the MM k member.

One photo shows the passenger side rack mount in good shape and the other shows the drivers side in its current condition.

To me it depends on what the shop would charge to fix it. It looks like it's just the tab. If that's the only issue and the cost is less than a new K member that's the route I'd go. Provided there's no other signs of damage.

I’m going to pull the k member out as soon as I run to HF and grab an engine support that goes across the fenders. I don’t want to mess with using my hoist and the legs being all in the way. If the rest of the parts look okay, I may try to have it welded up. I’m sure this will be $150 minimum though.

wow! You are being way too forgiving.
Meh I’m just glad I found it now when I was swapping racks versus finding it driving down the highway at 70mph.

And again, I can’t really hold them accountable. These parts are not expected to last forever and I think I installed this on the car in 2006.

I'm interested by the new QA1 as well it looks a lot more robust. Still hard to beat the UPR for a regular tubular K tho... MM is nice but balls overkill for a street car IMO. The Steeda one was nice too but they were asking way too much money.

Do you think that this warrants some type of repair/replacement by the manufacturer? It is over a decade old.

Definitely not. I do not hold AJE responsible at all.

My BMR k-member will be ready on Friday though. I’ll be one of the first people with it :)

BMR!!
PLEASE Keep us posted with pics and all details!!!
I am hoping to see something robust and much like the Steeda Kmember with its options for arms, spring perches, MM 4 point Kmember brace etc!!

EDIT: OK..I'm going to say this; It looks like a RACECRAFT Kmember clone.
Hopefully it has all the options the RaceCraft Kmember has.

So they decided not to update the forum that would probably have the largest customer base for that K member? And after they left us hanging for 3 years? I'm getting less and less impressed with them.

Not sure it is the K-member we were hoping to see from them either, but we will just have to wait to see.

I don't like any of the K-members in the area where the arms attach, except for Steeda and MM so far....but racecraft is one of the one's I might consider despite the "arm tabs."

I like my MM k member, but I wish they would make control arms that kept the stock track width.

The Steeda group price is insane... Like what $1300 to your door? What?

The BMR one I can't seem to find any details on except where to buy it... Is it coilovers only or what?

Yea that price is astronomical. I’d go MM long before I chose that.

I made a thread for the BMR one, i’ll link it here as soon as I can find out how to link it with my phone. Coil over only for now. They are going to add upper spring perches in the near future.
