Differential leaking

Just finished rebuilding the differential on my 03 cobra and after a weekend test drive i got it back to my job. Put it up on a lift and Checked it for any issues and i see that my pinion is leaking. I got a new flange from the local autoparts store which im guessing is your generic 8.8 ford mustang flange. Is there a difference between a 03 cobra pinion flange and a regular gt? Everything seems fine exept for the fact that its leaking

Where is it leaking from? The outer edge (seal) or the flange (nut)? Picture?

Not 100% sure i just took a quick look and realized it had been dripping and slinging fluid

You might need to unbolt the driveshaft to see if it’s wet inside or elsewhere...

to answer your first question as to whether there is a difference between a gt flange and a cobra flange, there is.

but that's probably not your problem since the difference is the size of the bolt circle. the cobra flange is bigger so if you used the wrong one it would not have bolted up to your driveshaft.

sounds like maybe the pinion seal just wasn't installed properly or something like that. best of luck with it!

You need RTV on the splines otherwise oil will seep out around the nut.

What Olympic said! Most people miss that but you can just put RTV inside that cavity. Should you ever need to remove everything, it is easy to remove.

A dab of silicone should have been put behind pinion nut

It may be slinger to close to seal.

Slinger can be removed before re install. It doesn’t stop it from working

Btw. Do you remember the name on box for pinion flange
