So was wondering what people’s thoughts are on a 2004 cobra repainted a non oem color and engine that’s been built and no longer 4.6L

Depends on what you want it for. If you want it as a driver and don't care about resale nothing wrong with it. If you want it for the value then that's not the right car.

What kind of power is the motor making and with what parts?

if I was to do it all over again, I would seriously consider buying a car already built from a reputable shop,

He want opinion before he made final decision . Changing color in a cobra is a big decision

Competition orange and Sonic blue probably 2 of the hottest colors in cobra world. Mystic as well but that paint job would be pricey.

It's your car do whatever you want. If your just going to sell it soon then painting it is a waste of money and you will loose money or pay for a shitty paint job.

Does it have to be painted?

As already suggested, just wrap it your color of choice. Then when and if you sell it, remove the wrap.
