Original post said nothing about smack down and was more 03cobra#694 like. It was more direct to the point and warned toward getting the ban for a while.

Sorry, temporary ban is what I meant.

I guess I determine the word "beat on" as a form of neglecting the car. I do some spirited driving, as that's what the car is for.

I feel anytime I open her up, I'm setting her free! It makes the lady in red happy!

But I'm also one that keeps up on maintenance, always looking things over.

After every cruise, I pop the hood and look things over.

I agree with this post 100%. Every time I take my Cobra out I get into boost. I love hearing that blower Eaton hopefully someday TVS scream like she is my bitch. That low end TQ is amazing too.

Can you help me to understand why you would buy a nitrous system, go through all the trouble to install it correctly, only to use it twice and then just leave it on for looks.

Additionally, does nitrous automatically mean that a vehicle has been abused, compared to a turbo or s/c? Proper install and tune matter more than anything.

I'd buy a low miles nitrous car that's had the kit for three years before I'd buy a higher mileage car with ratty smaller mods.

No mod really means that it’s been abused. You could come across the best put together car out there and find out the owner doesn’t know squat about the car and his favorite past time was pulls up to 8,000 rpms on a 135 degree day , 20 times in a row without concern. That’s beating on a car.

In the end, we all have our own definition of what abuse/beating on a car is. I, like others on here could not stand to buy one of these notorious Terminator Cobras, only to let it sit with low miles and never shred tires. I am 36 years old and I still grin like a little kid when I hop in the seat of my once ragged out Cobra that I brought back to life.

I would like to take this moment to thank my wife for not divorcing me for all the times she asked, “what did you buy for your car now!”

I generally do as well! But not this past summer due to breaking in a new clutch.

Hopefully, next summer I'll get to enjoy it more. Definitely look for a used 2.3 tvs, plenty of potential and low end torque. I have no plans to upgrade to the biggest and newest blower like many seem to do.

Yes I can. First off, to be clear, I did not buy the system to install it and not use it.

It was more a matter of happen stance.

After I installed the system on my Cobra I went to the track and ran the car twice on the bottle. On my second pass my factory clutch went out.

During this time I was also building my 65 Mustang. I took my RPM switch out of my Cobra and installed it on my 65.

I repaired the clutch in my Cobra and ran my 65 at the track for a while.

I never reinstalled my RPM switch back in my Cobra, which is the only reason it's not working.

Also, I don't go to the track anymore and I do not go to the local car hang out and street race in "Mexico" anymore.

I only go to car shows now and since my bottle is painted the same color scheme as my car I decided to just leave it in. Same thing for all the switches in my center console.

I thought about removing it, but then my trunk carpet would have holes in it and my center console would have holes in it. Just looks better leaving it in in my opinion.

I understand some people may not agree, but I have my reasons for leaving it on.

And the 36 year old me would agree with you 100%.

I'm 52 now and those days are behind me. I like to drive my car and lay into every now and then, but when leaving the light or getting on the highway.

Time and place for everything. My flipping the Nitrous switch and putting the hammer down days are done.

Nothing wrong with it as I did it when I was 36 too, but have no desire to do it now.

Agreed, the 2.3 TVS seems like the sweet spot especially on corn. Post up a vid of a pull next year brother.

Two kids, a mortgage and my drivers license dictates where I do it at also! I hope at 52, I still have that desire you have. I don’t want to be a crusty old boring fart.

Lmao! I agree with you 1000%. I don't think I'm a boring old fart just yet (and I know you're not calling me that....) Responsibilities will always take priority, but you have to have fun too. And I still get excited over the sound of a 60s muscle car.

In the summer of 2020 my brother and I are going to rebuild my 65. A 347 and TKO600 will be going in......

And I do plan on dropping the hammer as often as I can.

I have a simplistic view of what defines "beat on" (Terminator). When I had my '03 Cobra it had basic "fun" mods. Ported Eaton, 2.80 upper, exhaust, tune, etc. The car was a blast to drive. I normally drove the car to moderate revs. I would occasionally run to redline and did some WOT runs from a dig. I never did burnouts at length and didn't routinely hit redline. I didn't abuse the car nor the engine. This is a solid engine! IMO, I didn't beat on my car. When I sold it, there were no issues before, during or after the sale that would reflect that the car had been beat on. I also regularly changed the oil/filter, changed plugs, changed the air filter, etc. It was properly maintained, in other words. So if I regularly ran to redline, bounced the rev limiter, did high gear WOT runs to 130+, routinely did burnouts, etc., I'd then say that I beat on my Cobra. This is just how I personally define "beat on". We're fortunate that Ford build a solid motor for the Terminator. Lesser motors would have a lower bar.
