I'm inquiring about an office transfer to Dallas, if the people who live there can give me pro's and con's would be great. First off I have a corporate office there but would want to live in the burbs in a small nice area, second is it dry heat or that florida sticky weather? Third again is the pro's and con's? I'll be able to work 50/50 between home and commute to the corp but dallas commutes are nothing compared to chicago. So either talk me in or talk me out.

You could comfortably drive your mustang year long ;) that’s the best upside!

edit: I’ve never lived in Texas but have lived south and miss that part the most. Best wishes with your decision.

I lived in D/FW almost all my life. The Summers are brutally hot, but you are far enough away from the Gulfnof Mexico as to not be extremely humid most of the time. Winters are mild and very rarely does it ice, so no need to worry about rust. I haven't lived there in about 10 years, San Antonio now, but Dallas area is growing like crazy, especially the Frisco area. My family still lives up there, and traffic seems to have gotten worse every time I visit.

I was there for 4 months a few years ago . . . and I loved it. Would live there in a second if work/family allowed it to be a reasonable option.

The heat is dryer than the east coast, but not desert dry; perfect in my opinion. Cost of living is very reasonable. The culture is very "self reliant" with a much lower amount of entitled smucks with their hands out.

Dallas has a very white collar feel with lots of night life. Fort Worth gives you the blue collar. Best of both worlds.

Lived here my whole life and don't ever plan on leaving. The heat is not bad but I'm probably used to it. It is more of a dry heat so it's not terrible.

To me, traffic has always been the same, but I live in Lewisville and commute to Irving, so I'm not in the downtown area much. I actually avoid going downtown unless I have to. I would definitely recommend north Dallas (Carrollton, Coppell, Richardson, etc).

As stated above, the cost of living is not bad. You can get a nice house for under $300k depending on the actual city of course.

I'm only looking for a 3 bed, 2 bath 2 car garage

My brother lives in Arlington. I can tell you from the outside visiting, it’s as humid as Florida to me. I’m just use to the west coast desert dryness I guess. Like anything, you’ll get acclimated to it and it’ll just be the norm.

After 38 years of growing up in Atlanta then living the last 20 in Savannah, I can say you never get used to hot and humid. You spend your life hiding in the A/C from it.

Eeek! I dunno how you can do that! I work on the coast here in CA but live inland. It’s very humid on the coast and I often work underground where it’s even more humid. I’m still not use to it either. I thought it was because I’m not in it all the time.

I’ve lived in the area most my life and the only place I would move would be the hill country. It’s not humid. It’s growing everywhere so there will be some traffic to deal with. Is your office downtown?

To me, you can tell a difference in the people between Ft Worth and Dallas. Everyone’s always in a hurry in Dallas where Ft Worth is a little more laid back and the people seem a little nicer.

I was born in Texas and I’ll die in Texas.

I was born in Texas as well and hope to move back before I die. I've been in Colorado for 25 years and am ready for a change. Other than hail we have decent weather but I'll deal with the heat and humidity of Texas to get out of a state that is rapidly turning into another California. I'm looking at an opportunity in the Temple area I like the fact it's not a big city but is pretty close to Austin, Dallas, etc.

Been in the area all my life.

Pros
Everything is here, Close to several reputable racing shops like HPP and Gearheads.
Lots of awesome places to eat
Alot of things to do
Close to one of the country known lakes to fish, I speak of Lake Fork
Close to other cities I'm speaking 4-5 hours.
It's TEXAS, And as far as suburbs, I would recommend Rockwall,Frisco, McKinney,Rowlett

Cons
Weather can be unpredictable, Very true, It can snow today,Be 70s the next, and rain/sleet the next.....
The summer isn't too bad, I feel it's worse the closer to downtown you are HAHA, but in all seriousness, Lots of water parks to enjoy the sunny weather in.
You can't go wrong transferring to Texas I can assure you of that!
