My 2011 GT is about to go in for a whipple install so I’m in the market for some new rubber. Car is a summer daily (depending on weather) that I drive to work and take on spirited runs, but a track visit or 2 isn’t out of the question either. I really want a streetable tire that can (sorta) handle 650ish wheel hp that isn’t a drag radial.
I’ve mainly narrowed my search down to either a Toyo R888r or a Bridgestone Potenza Re-71r on my 20x9.5 Hyperblack Roush wheels. The grip potential of the R888r intrigues me but I’d rather not swap these out every 6k-8k miles. On the other hand, the Bridgestones seem to still offer a respectable amount of grip and it looks like I could potentially get 15k-20k out of a set.
Mainly looking for advice from anyone with daily experience with either of these options or I’m open to other suggestions that would fit my criteria. Thanks in advance!
