Are you joining Seattle PD? If so, reapply to Everett PD and I may see you there in the future as I am looking to apply again. They go back and forth with Kirkland on who pays the most which starting pay is like 73k/year there, and their department is squared away; I have two Marine buddies there right now now and they love it. I have a buddy at Seattle PD and last I heard he is sick of it. Seattle cant keep cops on the force because they have all their hands tied. They cant do shit. Good luck with whatever you do though and you will figure out quickly what is good and what isn't. It's a beautiful place that I never want to leave.

thanks buddy! No I am not joining any police departments. I wouldn’t leave Illinois State Police for any other police departments honestly. I am just headed to corporate America route there

35-45 in Seattle is ten miles at best. If you want cheap and safe prepare for 90+ minute commutes

90 minutes sounds like a nightmare. I wouldn’t want to drive anything more than 30-45 mins. What are some safe decent neighborhoods within that distance to the downtown?

I don't know. I've never lived that close. 60-90 minutes is a normal commute. Mine after work commute right now is 55

Traffic really depends on time of day. 6-9 am is a nightmare, after that it starts to loosen up. Then again from about 3-6:30 pm. It takes me about 50 minutes to get to a customer in the industrial area in Seattle and I live in BFE.

About the same for me "most" mornings. I am in Tacoma. I wish I could move way further out, but between the wifes job, and mine we can't.

West Seattle, and pretty much every area directly surrounding the city is good I believe because it is so pricey there. The cities north of Seattle are all really nice also but if you head south towards Renton, Tukwila, Kent, etc it starts to get sketchier. All of those cities have really nice areas in them and nice neighborhoods but they also have some of the highest property crime in the country there. Those cities are about a 20-30min drive from Seattle without traffic. I dont drive that route in rush hour so I'm not sure how long it takes at those times. Bellevue though is the most upscale area that is a accessible to Seattle using either the 520 or I90 bridges that cross over, and then Issaquah is East a little bit beyond Bellevue and is another really nice city that is accessible to Seattle utilizing I90. If you've got the money I would look at those two cities first.

It really is a pretty place.

My mom lives up there and the rain isn't like you'd expect. It's like, mist/drizzle but it keeps going.

There are a lot of bums.

If you see the sound from a small town on it, it's breathtaking.

The traffic is weird. I got caught in a few traffic jams with no real explanation as to why, no on ramp, no off ramp, no accidents, no construction, just a traffic jam. Apparently that's common?

Why are you giving up on law enforcement? Seattle is good for IT or being a LEO and that's about it bro. You're better off in Chicagoland area.

I'm planning on selling my house right when the kids get out of school, move into my gram's house and continue relearning everything with my company and will be looking at moving down south but staying with them. Maybe Texas, Alabama, or north Florida. The cost of living is dirt cheap.

Traffic can be a huge pain. All the beautiful lakes and water make it hard to get in and out of Seattle.

They are building a light rail [(this is also a huge current tug of war in legislation fought hard with antagonism and opposition from both sides, as it is taxed on car tabs (especially newer cars)] that should be operational in the next 2 years or so.

If you're having to park a car in Seattle and pay out of pocket to do so the Bus or light rail will be a good option as parking is hugely pricey downtown.

Truth is, Erdal received an offer to be a porn star since he has very large thumbs and something else.

It is a large corporate company (Pornhub)

Any of the Seattlites work for the big tech firms?

My brother does...... and most of his friends. None of them are much of car guys tho... However one of his friends has an 83 Delorean.

I myself am in Engineering and Fabrication for a lifting company in Redmond.
