My family (wife and 2 young children) and I will be moving to Texas in the spring. Looking around the Schertz or Cibolo areas as I will be working in San Antonio.

Anyone from those areas or familiar with them? We are looking to rent a house since we’ll only be there for 3-4 years. Don’t want to deal with buying and selling.

Good schools are a must as our oldest will be starting kindergarten within the next 2 years.

Advice on the areas or any better areas to look in?

I live in Cibolo and lived in Schertz for 7 years before that. Been in this area a total of 13 years. Can't go wrong with either and they are great places to live. Plenty of rentals around here because of Randolph AFB. Schertz, Cibolo and Universal City are in the same school district. I wouldn't live in UC though. PM me if you have more questions.

Almost 42 years in and around San Antonio. Most of the area up there is decent but traffic can be a pita on 35. If your kids were older I would suggest going a little farther out to get Canyon or New Braunfels high schools but you won’t be around that long so it shouldn’t matter to much.

Make sure you check the flood plain maps. We just moved out of houston, we never flooded however when it did we were stuck at home. It’s not the same in central Texas however it does flood and better save than sorry. If you live outside the big cities (houston Dallas Austin San Antonio) the people are great friendly conservative and all the guns you want. Good luck on the move.

It’s not my favorite, but it’ll beat Ohio winters; if I had to choose one or the other.

Thanks for all the info/advice. We’re excited for the change of scenery for a bit.

Kind of off topic - if you know of any good tuners in the area, I’d appreciate suggestions. I am finishing my Tork Tech build on my 02 GT and will need to hit the rollers once I’m down there.

I’m not in the tune scene but there were a handful on the north side and spread across

Luckily were are extremely easy on inspections. No pipe tests $7.50
Can’t complain

For your tuning go to Max V they did my F1a bullitt. That area you're looking at is good but traffic does really suck in the morning and afternoon. Police in that area are also strict I got a speeding ticket for doing 48 in a 45. I've lived in San Antonio my whole life it's a great city the car scene is good and the food is amazing! Great diversity here when you move here let me know we can meet for lunch and I'll show you around a bit.
