Where to go for the LS Bible if you will. I want to learn more about what parts are on what engines and what can be interchanged. What are the differences between 4.8 5.3 6.0. Ls1 ls2 lt4 ls7 ls6 etc. The works if you will. I cruised around ls1tech and seems pretty dead.

I asked my buddy who’s big on the LS stuff. When he responds I’ll let you know. My knowledge on them is ok, but I can’t tell you which parts are interchangeable. Other than I know LS2’s are compatible with LS3 heads, as the 6.0 police cars have those engines in them.

That’s what I’m looking for. I don’t mind reading and doing my own research but I’m looking for a reliable source to read from. What are the differences and what can be shared between motors.

Nope the LS-2 6.0L is not the same as what they call the L-99 6.0L that the G-8 GT/ Caprice PPV's had the cooling circuit is opposite where the LS it went through the heads first then the block the L-99 is block first then the heads, that and the PPV/ Caprice L-99 has displacement on demand where 4 of the 8 cyl are deactivated in certain driving conditions and RPM ranges. I think if it is below 3200 RPM's where it engages on DOD. The Pontiac G8 GT's didn't have DOD, the GTO's had LS-1 and LS-2's though.

I cruised around ls1tech and seems pretty dead.

I bet their search function works pretty good. And I bet hundreds of people put thousands of hours into answering questions you were likely to ask.

Fare enough L99 then. Interesting. I’ve always heard them being LS2’s with LS3 heads.

I've always used LS1tech for info.

ls1tech is the place to go for good tech info. The corvette forums have some, but it is nowhere near as good as ls1tech. The forums seem dead because you are asking for really old information. The LT engines have been out for awhile not.

Google “sloppy mechanics” or go to sloppymechanics.com - pretty much the Bible for junkyard LS builds on a budget.

The L-76 6.0L in the G8GT did have DoD and the lifters proved problematic for some.
