Guys,
If updating the stock Heat Exchanger for lower IAT2's, Would the VMP Dual Fan HX be better than the Whipple over sized with no fans. The Whipple is huge.
The location of the HX is blocked by the huge front bumper/Crash bar, so it makes you wonder how any of them see any air.
One is triple pass and the other is dual pass. Would the triple be more restrictive of water flow?
Just thinking.
Thanks

This was an interesting discussion. I don't know that it answers your question, but on sqidd's facebook page he uses an anemometer to record wind speed of air pulled through the core of a fanned unit. The measured speed is rather low and varies by location of meter. I don't know that dual pass or triple pass makes a whole lot of difference. The fact is there are so many restrictions in the intercooler system the actual flow rate in gallons/minute are pretty low.

The thing that i really like about the Whipple oversized is that it extends much higher up and would be in a good air stream vs about everybody else'e HX's.
Fan's are a good idea at low speeds, but the additional load on the electrical system, the noise, etc. I know fans are the norm now days, but is that the best option?

I put the VMP triple pass on my 13 Shelby GT500. It seems to be a decent product, more on that later.
You cannot hear the fans, barely audible outside the car.
I liked all the push about how it lessens heat build up while stopped or in slow moving traffic. I cannot tell it does anything for my style of driving. I cruise in my car, with a few red line shifts. No track time.
On the quality, I am loosing a little coolant, maybe 1/2 cup for a days driving. Not seeing any drips. This may be a clamp I left loose. I just have not taken the time to pull the rad cover or bottom cover.
Would I do it again? Not with reports that the 13 has one of the best intercooler rads.
I guess if you are at the drag strip a lot and not running ice, it might show more value than I found.

The best HE is the Titanic triple from Department of Boost, my 2014 had a KB IC core, the Stewart pump, Titanic HE, 28psi, sees 30° above ambient, under power.

So how did you get your DoB HE, when many of us have been waiting for months beyond their estimated delivery date? And when did you get it?

First group buys were supposed to be purchasers of their 4.6 intercooled supercharger manifold. Every one else was included in the second group buy.... allegedly. That's what I was told and I have the e-mails. If he has one on a GT500, I want to know what's going on.

I guess I’m glad I didn’t buy into that deal as well. He sold a very good dream on that product and I passed because they weren’t anywhere close to ready to ship .

Yes, mines for a GT500, waited a good while for it, finally got it.
It's a really nice piece, worth the wait if you can. I don't think the guys a crook or anything, but he seems to be able to sell really well, and his suppliers are kinda on the slow side. I think about everyone that makes stuff is covered up, I know we are.

Hey Bud! I just got a 2014 GT500 and I'm looking to buy a new Heat Exchanger. I can't find a single 2013-2014 GT500 using the Titanic unit. Can you shoot me a message? Would greatly appreciate it
