any pros and cons? Never been there before and have zero information about that place.

as for my background, just a single male mid 30s.

Thanks folks!

I'm here...... in seattle

Everything is expensive.... Homes, cars, restaurants.....

Yes it rains .... than it rains more...... Okay still raining.... yes its raining as I type this....

(make sure you have tires for it)

..... but ..... some day it doesn't.....

AND THOSE DAYS ARE JUST GORGEOUS! All the lakes and mountains the forest...

Traffic is pretty lousy here...

Other bright side highlights...

-No emissions!

-I truly feel people are genuinely nicer here (from my personal experience travailing)

-The Seahawks..... need I say more???

Couple car shows every summer with good people.

What part of town are you looking to be in?

lived here now 17years. i love the state, its breathtaking the winters are mild. rain doesnt bother me. its really rough NOV-JAN its very dark with only 7-8hrs of day light.

the things i dont like. this states politics. like wow. one county basically runs the state and we get taxed to hell. COLA is high but there is alot of money around here. i grew up in Colorado and would take washinton all day and twice on sunday.

oh and the car scene here is one of the best kept secrets on the west coast. seriously.

Yup, go visit XXX during the summer. Some really nice rides there.

I've lived here nearly my entire life. If we can keep the libtards from ruining it, it's the best place in the country to live IMHO. Yeah it rains, but unless you're made of sugar, who cares?

There is phenomenal Beer out here in the PNW.. Need I say more ??

jk,

Welcome, I think Seattle area has a lot to offer and of course it will be what you make of it. Shit is pricey though, and housing keeps going up. I live a little over an hour away from downtown Seattle and really wouldn't want to be, or afford to be much closer. This topic came up among my group at work as we have a few new guys... We described it as Seattle does a lot of things well.. but maybe doesn't excel in any one area.

It's an outdoorsy area and you can easily go Boating, fishing, hiking, camping ski/snowboard or snowmobile, golf ect. all within a pretty short drive. There are some good scenic drives. I find it pretty easy to get away' for a weekend here.

For the Car scene, the Drag strip/road course is close by.. There is the Mustang round up, there's a weekly exotics meet in Redmond, an Annual scenic drive to Leavenworth and several other small meets and clubs.

Seahawks games are killer if you're an NFL fan, it's always a packed house and everyone is into it, night life is solid if you care about that.. those would be about the only reasons I would go into downtown as it is going to shit with homeless and drugs.

Good luck with your job and your move !

Traffic, roads, politics, taxes, and living costs suck. If you like firearms you are the devil up here. Do you have to be IN Seattle? I pretty much never go into Seattle except when I have to for work. But yes on alot of the other higher points. Mild winter, wonderful scenery, The Ridge Motorsports park(in Shelton) is a awesome track if you like more than going strait. Pacific raceways isn't too bad either.

My wife spent many years in the Tacoma area when she was in the military, and she loved it. As stated above, whenever it wasn't a rainy day she said it was gorgeous.

Thanks guys! Any good places to live just outside the city that’s cheaper? I will be working in the city so 30-45 min drive would be worth it to save some money and live somewhere bigger than a closet. Somewhere safe.

35-45 in Seattle is ten miles at best. If you want cheap and safe prepare for 90+ minute commutes

Are you joining Seattle PD? If so, reapply to Everett PD and I may see you there in the future as I am looking to apply again. They go back and forth with Kirkland on who pays the most which starting pay is like 73k/year there, and their department is squared away; I have two Marine buddies there right now now and they love it. I have a buddy at Seattle PD and last I heard he is sick of it. Seattle cant keep cops on the force because they have all their hands tied. They cant do shit. Good luck with whatever you do though and you will figure out quickly what is good and what isn't. It's a beautiful place that I never want to leave.
