05/09 is a great bang for your buck if you find the right deal. Easy to work on too and pretty comfortable. Plus 3v's sound good.

The 05 I drove yesterday was very comfy to drive, and even the stock exhaust sounded pretty good to me. I'm not worried to much about gas mileage either. I have a short commute to work so I'm not really looking for another four cylinder anything.

Mileage is overrated. I’ll take fun over economic too.

Have you driven a Fiesta ST? Literally all three - mileage, fun and economic - combined.

People pushing a fwd car when someone is asking about a rwd car kill me. While the fiesta may be “fun” and economical but youre not going to be powersliding or drifting around in the rain or any other shenanigans like that, like you can with a rwd vehicle.

I’ve driven Focus ST and the torque steer was really bad as was the wheel hop. In the commuting traffic we have here in SoCal, 1st and 2nd gear pulls on the on the freeway on ramp meters until you have to go 20 on the freeway and red light racing is about as much fun in the commute as you can get here. I’ll take the rwd V8 for my commute.

Exactly, well said. Plus the V8 rumble is music to my ears.

My dad bought one with a parts car for my niece and it needed some work. Engine ticked with 100k so we put in vct lockouts and I eliminated them in the tune. The auto tranny went out 300 miles later so we manual swapped the car with the parts from the parts car and it. The car was fun to drive in either setup and way more comfy as a DD than my Terminator.

The parts car had 85k miles on it and the engine ticked on it as well. My suggestion is to get a tune for lock outs on the vct system and plan on doing it.

Those are definitely a luck of the draw car. We had an 06 vert and I think we had every issue possible for that generation. Aside from the broken plugs. I got good at replacing those. We did the full timing set around 60k which was good since we found one of the guides was broken. But then I ended up replacing the driver side phaser two more times. Then there was the SJB issue which I don't think ever really went away. And the fuel level sender which liked to read empty with a full tank of gas. Even after replacing both sides.

I think it had 96k when we traded it in.

So the only thing that youre saying is because the Fiesta cannot powerslide or drift around in the rain it cant be a perfect daily?

The reason people are suggesting the Fiesta ST is because it is immensely fun day to day. Ive had both a 3 valve and currently a Fiesta ST and can say without a doubt the Fiesta is the better day to day choice.

You are the only one suggesting anything other than a s197.

i didn’t say anything about the fiesta not being a good daily. What I AM saying is that a v8 rear wheel drive s197 will
be more fun and sound 10x better than a fiesta.

I am not. OnDbit suggested it also. He owned one as a daily driver also and loved it.

You have obviously never driven a Fiesta ST. I will admit that it doesn’t have that V8 sound but it makes up for it in how it drives and it’s power delivery. The 3 valve has to be wound out to its damn near redline to get any feeling out of that car. The FiST has low and midrange power that makes it perfect for the speeds you see day to day around town. It doesn’t need to be wound out to death to make power either.

OP doesn’t have to take my suggestion but you saying a FiST is less fun than a 3 valve is absolutely wrong and I can confirm that the 3 valve is a complete bore compared to an ST car. Both of mine were driven daily for years. I’d hands down take a FiST every time.

ST does oversteer.

More fun than my 03 Mach 1.
