You will need an HPtuners Ngauge to tune with Kurgan. I wasn't too impressed with his tune on my buddies cammed/Trinity 2012. Hopefully you have better luck, although id stick with Lund at this point. Good Luck!

Alibi.....A while back one of my mods ventures :) was with an FRPP Mono Blade which could not be tuned for street driveability by 2 local Mustang shops. Both times I was sent home on my old twin blade. I read here Lund might solve this puzzle but wrench Lights still lit the dash. Accufab bench tests were a total joke. Lund steered me towards a FREE KB Mono tune during his 90 day trial period. For my own confidence I still had both Mustang shops do a tune eval on a Mustang & Dynometer. With the KB Mono Blade my fuel pumps were confirmed safe by all three tuners. It made 716rw on the Dynonometer (+36 over Twin) and 660-665 on the Mustang dyno with safe AFR. .
I agree with you about using local tuners over canned. Had I first got the KB Mono for some extra ponies I would not have felt the need to call Lund. Thinking back it was a fun adventure!

Got my tune finalized via Alex at lund today. It seems to run smooth and pretty strong. I did expect more however for the $2,500. In mods. Maybe I am a horsepower junkie and am never satisfied. The lund tuner said my knock sensors were pulling timing pretty hard because of poor quality fuel. I only buy 93 octane at BP or shell and always have. So not sure if I agree with that.

It is true, bad fuel. Buy a can of VP or Sunoco something in the 96 octane range.
I was advised to not race on a blend, of this and street pump. I think the issue is different specific gravity and it will separate.
The adaptive ECU must not be able to correct if the engine is running hard on canned gas and gets a dose of pump.
Anyway, believe them when they say, it is bad gas causing spark knock and ign retard.

I know not everyone is lucky enough to have a top notch tuner within driving distance to do business with. ( JDM )

Here is another example of a customer, after spending $$$$ on tuning, didn't get the result he expected.
To me, he would have been ahead of the curve using " local " talent for tuning..

I've been working with JDM for the past 2 years now and Jim is great. He answers questions, his tunes are spot on and troubleshoots with me, etc. and I've never even stepped foot in his shop. I can always get him on the phone, he answers emails quickly, and he sends me editable tunes for my SCT software.

I have nothing but great things to say about him.

After I expressed my concerns with lund, Alex sent me another revision (just loaded the tune) and it is running really strong now. Idle and part throttle have never been smoother too. I am well pleased at this point... Now its rear gears, and then dyno tune/safety check time very soon.

I am gonna sale my Lethal H pipe. It only has about 300 miles on it. Took it back off today and put the stock H pipe with the cats back on. The Lethal pros: I love the overall tone and old school sound, and the IAT’s run about 8-10 degrees cooler. The Lethal cons: I couldn’t take the gas smell w/o the cats (I am getting old I guess), and the slight “tinny” sound from about 2,800-3,400 rpms under certain throttle conditions. The only difference I see IMHO in the performance with vs. without the Lethal H pipe is that it actually seems to have an ever so slight low end torque gain with the factory pipe and cats set up when you first stab the throttle! And man its running like a tiger now with the tune dialed in and the other mods. I am loving it more than ever. I highly recommend the basic mods and tune for these cars! Cant wait to do the rear gears. This is the only auto work that I dont want to tackle myself. Gonna take it to Tobener Motorsports. Word is he does great work, He is local to me and builds some awesome shelby’s and stangs for street and racing. Guarantees his work and will do the 4.10’s on it (with the diff cooler) for $600. labor.
Question: is Ford racing the best set of gears?

Is your WOT AFR rich enough in your final tune revision to keep your cats alive? I rode in a cammed GT500 with ORH in traffic, and the fuel smell from the exhaust was bad... keeping me from going catless. I do have a nice ORH for track days though!

He revised the tune and turned on the cat protection, but now it stalls immediately after starting it. Gonna have to get the tune right again.

Ask if he will tune it on the street !!
He can proof it on the dyno after he's done..

I forgot to update that lund did get my tune worked back out since I went back to the stock h pipe with the cats. It runs real good and strong, honestly seems to have a bit more torque down low versus the OR h pipe w/o the cats. Very pleased with the upgrades.
