Some have gone to a Porsche dealer. I used a Discount Tire twice in an upscale area where I live that services high end cars every day. Had to have two screw holes plugged.

Any shop that has experience using the Hunter Touchless Wheel mounting system is your best bet. I called my local Hunter rep and asked who he recommended

How did you find the local hunter rep?

I talked to Carbon Revolution, and they said there is nothing special required to mount CF wheels. Of course, a high end "touch less" is recommended.
Both great ideas thanks.

The Hunter Revolution is a benchmark machine, but it costs ~$30k, so you might not be able to find one easily. There are other touchless machines, by Corghi, and many others. My point is the Hunter Revolution is not the option.

I called their customer service and they gave me the phone number of the local sales rep. I called him on his cell and he recommended some shops near me that had the machine and had people who he trusted to operate it. There was several in my zip code

They are very susceptible to cosmetic damage. You will want to find a center mount touchless machine, at minimum (however an inexperienced operator can still cause damage). Touchless means that the operator does not have to use a lever / bar to get the beads off / on. Even better (further reducing risk) is a fully automatic machine, like the above referenced Hunter Revolution or equiv super high end machine. Again, based on talking to Carbon Revolution, strength / structurally, they are just as strong as a aluminum wheel.

Are these wheels that sensitive or can a good discount tire shop be able to change the tires out?

There are many shops around Houston including Discount Tire shops that use Hunter equipment. I would call any of the ones listed and ask if they use a Revolution or Auto 34S Touchless wheel changer. Do not use a shop that does not use them and tells you its okay. Its not.

Put in your zip code and see the shops in your area.

thanks, it appears that there is a discount tire down the street with this equipment. I appreciate it. I'll just ask them to make sure when I show up. I want to save my Pilot cup 2's for track and purchase street tires.

Which Michelin street or performance tires are good for summer cruising and occasional winter drives?

For Michelin the only Ultra Performance All season tire would be the Pilot Sport A/S 3's. Any of Michelin's street summer tires like the Pilot Super Sports or Pilot Sport 4S tires are not recommended for cold or below 40 degrees. I have used both the Pilot Super Sports and Pilot Sport 4S tires. They are both great tires for the street but the 4S's are the latest greatest from Michelin. Never driven any of my performance Mustangs in the winter months so I don't have any experience with the Pilot Sport A/S 3's. Check tire rack for reviews because the A/S 3's are rated highest in their class.

Do you get much winter weather down in your area or mostly north of you?

In my area the winter isn't that long and gets at best low 30's with no snow. Its hot down here the majority of the time. And I won't drive it too much in the winter anyway. So the Pilot Sport A/S 3's is the way to go?

If you are not going to drive it much in winter and temps don't go real low I think the A/S 3 All Seasons would be a waste. Better off staying with the 4S's or Pilot Super Sports but that would be your call to make. Don't know your area too well.

Check out Michelin because it has $70 rebate on any Michelin tire at Discount Tire until November 27th.

After both local Ford dealerships said they wouldn't touch the carbon fiber wheels, I contacted Porsche who said they have done carbon fiber wheels before and could do it. They're charging 1hr labor per wheel @ $175 an hr, so not cheap but definitely worth it to prevent damaging rims that are $6k each.

$700 for a tire change (not including the tires, weights, stems, etc) is laugh out loud worthy. Especially when one considers how quickly the Cup2's wear. I think if I had to spend $2300 for a tire change every 6 months, I'd puke. That's damn near $400/month for operating costs for tires.

My R is my daily so I'm swapping to the PS4's to get a little more longevity. Yeah it definitely stings paying that much for install but it's better then ending up with a damaged rim. What's really screwed up about this is that Ford actually told me to call Chevy to put tires on.
