Any opinion on all the Canadian vehicles being brought over and sold as used here in the US? I am seeing alot of trucks/SUVs here in MI that come from Canada, the miles are lower and the prices lower.

How are recalls handled for those vehicles?

Ford and GM honor warranty across borders from Canada to US....FCA DOES NOT.

The exchange rate is so strong right now that a lot of Canadian dealers are selling their vehicles to the US dealers and picking up profit.

Recalls will be handled the same.

If I provide a VIN for a Mustang, would you be able to send me a link of the original window sticker or give me a list of what options it has?

Thanks

Whats considered an EXCELLENT % off MSRP deal for a diesel Super Duty?

When you see dealers that advertise large chunks off MSRP right on their website, is that a ploy to get you on the back end somehow? Or are they just operating to make their bonus from total units moved (volume)?

If it's 2008+, probably.

It depends on region. Some regions offer more in discounts.

When I say region, it's not where the dealer is located that matters...it's where the consumer plans to register it at.

The Chevy/GMC dealers here have just been killed on inventory because of the strike. Do you think you picked up any pickup sales because of that Nick?

I'm sure it did in some areas.

I'm 15 minutes away from the KC F-150 plant...so the VAST majority of people in my area are Ford truck people anyways.

Be real careful that you look over Canadian vehicles extremely close. The solutions they use on their roads in the winter is horrible. We have seen 2015's that from underneath look like a 1995. Check door seams and rockers especially close.

Nick,

Someone told me today that they tried to order a 2020 Superduty but their build was delayed three times because of issues with the new 10 speed transmission.

Have you heard anything that would corroborate this?

Guy ended up buying a 2019 F-350 with a 6.7, so I don’t think he was just Ford bashing.

Northern tier states also unfortunately. I just spent $300 fixing a corrosion spot on my truck.

We went and test drove a 2020 Explorer Limited AWD on Friday. Sticker is $54,225. Discussing a lease, they marked the vehicle down to $51,225 (without even starting to negotiate yet). The next day, after test driving another vehicle, I pulled up the Explorer on the dealer's website and saw they have it marked down $9,000 to $45,225. I called the sales rep to ask about the price being on the site so much cheaper and he said that's because of rebates/incentives that only apply to a buy, not a lease. This particular Explorer is marked down a lot more than other ones on their site of the same trim and drivetrain.

1.) Should I be able to get them down further on the selling price of the vehicle for a lease?
2.) Should I be concerned that this specific vehicle is marked down more than the others on their site? Is it likely just due to how long it's been on their lot or would it be something else?

1.) It's hard for me to say, since all of the rebates will be tied to your zip code and I'm obviously not familiar with it.
2.) I would guess it was in their loaner program, or they've had an insurance claim on it.

It only had a few miles on it, so it definitely wasn't a loaner. Insurance claim as in something happened to it while in-transit or on the lot? Is there a way to find that info out other than a Carfax or hoping that the dealer would disclose it if asked?

No way to know to be honest.
