Yeah, the round body SNs have a soft following compared to the Foxes, New Edges and Coyote cars. Give it time, it'll come back around eventually. The Fox's have always been popular for cheap fun but nice, original cars are building value for collectors now. The round body SNs will follow in a few more years I'm sure. I've had a few myself and love the Cobras but always saw the same, not as much of a follow/not as much support for those.

I agree, I had two of the 2-Top 95 Cobras and a 95R and they were the least valuable of the Cobras and R's that I owned at that time. It was sad, they were so unique and low numbers built, but that was the market then and still appears to be now......

"People in the know" would always ask me at car shows.........Where did you buy the kit to make the rear 1/4 windows roll down on a 94-98 Coupe??? I always replied, it is not a Coupe......and then the reply from the person asking the question....."Wait, What?!?!?!"

The only time they were all out at the same time in the same pictures....

The real project that I had was to find spare hardtops, hardtop storage covers, storage dolly's, the 2 piece package trays for each car. <<Those 2-Top items are unique, Very Rare and I figured I better grab up as much 2-Top stuff as I could find since I owned two of those cars. I found spares of everything for both cars, but it took some time and research to pull it all together. The 2-Top VCR Hardtop Install/Removal tape was the other unique item that Ford/SVT included with these cars. I had a couple of original copies of it also.

I also picked up a new set of Goodyear GS-C's for both 2-Top's, those tires were going obsolete at that time and to be MCA correct and not get dinged for incorrect tires when being Concours judged GS-C's were it.....

I looked in the garage and the only items I have left from my SN95 2-Top ownership days are the items below......

A New from Ford 1994/95 5.0 Belt Routing decal, you know, the decal that always gets the "hump" in the middle.....or gets damaged from coolant or other fluid...

015.jpg

The Very Rare Hardtop Dolly instructions that were used by the owner to assemble the Hardtop, the Hardtop Dolly was shipped disassembled in the trunk, these are the assembly instructions that were usually thrown away after assy......

016.jpg

017.jpg

The exploded view of the Removable Hardtop from Ford Parts, most parts guys would have a heck of a time finding this view, but virtually nothing is available as for replacement parts......

019.jpg

and then a common picture of the original Convert./Hardtop V6 Prototype from Ford.....

That's awesome!

It was a fun time owning those cars. There is one difference between the two 2-Tops shown below, all 1995 Cobra 2-Tops were optioned identical, all 499, but one option became available mid-1995, the "Theft Deterrent System".........The 2-Tops that have this mid-year option will have a "Theft" light (I believe that is what it was), that flashes in the instrument cluster when the car is locked, the cars without that option do not have the Theft light in the cluster (I believe it was in the bottom string of lights), it is a somewhat rare option on a 1995 Cobra and especially a 2-Top. In 1996 it became standard. If I remember correctly, I believe that Theft option was $145 on the original window sticker? One of my window stickers/cars had it, and one did not. Also, from memory I believe the Hardtop harness where the heated rear glassharness plugs together had something additional as it related to the Theft option.

Finding a Theft optioned 2-Top was the main reason I bought the second one, in addition to having both at a car show, one showing the soft top and one showing the Hardtop. <<That was cool too!

So awesome. I got tired of the round body style and always wanted a Mach, so that's what I scooped this time around. But I had 2 super clean CY GTs, a '94 and a '95 and then a clean '97 CW Cobra. Would love to pick up another round body Cobra some day. It's so rare to see one now

The one thing I remember about the 95 2-Top Cobra's, for one the Hardtop is 90lbs, so adding that amount of weight to a 245hp car is a big deal, and then seconding having a slug 3.08 gear for the 5 speed made the car lesser than desirable in the acceleration world. <<<From the factory of course. The 95R got a 3.27 matched with the 5.8 and a much lighter car, it was a whole different world when the right pedal was pushed.

Gears make a TON of difference in these cars. I had 3.73s in my first yellow car paired with an E-cam and full bolt ons and it was pretty stout. The '97 Cobra had 4.10s, that's the minimum I'd ever run with a mod motor car.

Agreed!!

If you are a manufacturer like Ford, and you have to meet emissions and CAFE standards, ok, I understand, but once these cars hit the streets and the owners start to experience the acceleration (or lack of), the EPA crap goes out the window........but because of the limited number built of the 2-Tops and their uniqueness in the SN95 and Mustang world in general, I never modded either car. The funny thing is, the 2-Top with the Theft option was completely original as it came from Ford, 14,000 miles when I bought it at 10 years old, but it had Flowmaster catbacks on it. I bit the bullet, bought correct oem right and left mufflers w/tailpipes for that car from Ford and sold the Flowmaster stuff locally. <<To me the value was not modded but original with that car, plus I was not into the Flowmasters that much.

Thanks for your response. I bought this mustang all original in almost perfect condition. Like the other owners before me it’s been driven less than a 1000 miles a year. It looks like we all thought the cars would become more sought after. I’m willing now to take my losses and move on.

Bought 95 cobra ht vert few years ago as an investment. Original in all ways . Always bought vettes or planes before . Found them to be a value and priced fairly easy to sell. First time mustang owner find lack of interest in sn95s baffiling.
How many miles are on your 95?

As for SN-95s. I have a 96 Mystic Cobra. There is quite the following of the Mystic cars and prices are somewhat strong for low-mile pristine cars. I agree though that Fox body prices are much stronger.

Most cars seem to have a long slide of depreciation, then eventually in the case of collectable cars, they start to come back. You see this with the Foxes now. Will SN-95's? Well there is movement in the S351, and R's (barely). The new edge was such an improvement, in both looks and performance (Cobra). Well judging by your FS thread, your not intending to wait it out (understood).

I would put the 1994 Indy's, the 1995 2-Tops and the 1996 Mystics at the top of the SN95 list of collectibles without concern of performance specs. A Mustang like the 2-Top, one year only, 499 built, convert with a factory removable hardtop? Now that is a Very Special car and took some $$$ and engineering by Ford/SVT to even get it to production. When buying one now, 20+ years later, the question is.......How many of the original 2-Top unique items are still with the car? Sometimes (many times) as these cars change hands over the years, pieces unique to the car do not get passed along with the car. If I remember correctly, there are 6 items (including the Hardtop) that came with a 2-Top and are 2-Top specific.

IMO not the prettiest looking thing Ford ever created. Two each his own tho. If we all liked the same car we'd all be driving the same car.

My GF thinks the 1990 Foxbody coupe is the ugliest car ever made lmao.... To me its simply pure art work!:D
