To Dually or not to Dually: that is the question.

Not correct. ... that number is 26k GCWR.

Also.. in CA, starting in january, anything over 14k GVWR (F450 and up) is going to fall under the new diesel smog laws for commercial trucks in this state. No prob if you buy a new truck, but HUGE problem if you are driving an older (mid 2000s and down) F450 and up.
I read Cal DMV is actually denying registration for medium duty+ trucks that arent 2010 or newer. Like, you CANNOT use your own property even if it is compliant to the standards of the year it was produced. What in the actual hell?

Florida Man shakes his head at California Govt.

Pretty ****ed up to screw owners that drive "older" diesels.

But then again, good ammo for guys with 6.4's that want an excuse to upgrade lol.

As an FYI, with regard to width, the track width of a Raptor is under an inch different than a DRW SD (73.9" Raptor vs 74.7" DRW)

Does California actually want everyone who isn't making $1,000,000 a year or more to move out?

Please elaborate, as this is different than my understanding.

Description of Commercial

It’s not just weight but use, You can register a class 8 truck for personal use. An example is a client of mine built some horse stables for his family and they hire a driver to run their truck and trailer to shows.

I had a 2008 CCLB SRW 6.4 F350 and now have a 2013 CCLB DRW 6.7 F350. Just talking about the difference in SRW and DRW, they drive and tow my car trailer the same for the most part. Turning radius/parking sucks equally (My 2013 doesn't have the wide front axle, I'd look for one with that option if I did it again).

That said, the 6.7 trucks are night and day different over the 6.0/6.4 trucks. I'm sure the 17+ ones are even better yet but I haven't driven one for any substantial amount of time. I wouldn't even consider a Ford diesel other than a 6.7.

........... that actually looks good to me. Except for the wheels, dont care for the "baller brodozer" style. Prefer a traditional Alcoa pattern or steel dually pattern. But the lift is cool (maybe an inch or two lower) and the tires look perfect.... yes Id drive that shit everyday. Wont lie, Im short. So Ill need the requisite "Small dick" plate frame to own this.

Your mom
The wife wants a F-350. With the trailer stability control built in to the modern trucks, duallies are really more of a "I want it" thing than an "I need it" one.

We'll be getting the SRW.

Wow, I just looked that up. I didnt realize that was a standard feature now. That certainly adds another layer to the equation, in a good way. I appreciate the heads up.

I wasn’t knocking it. I like the lift and tires. The wheels I could lean more towards a set of Alcoa’s as well. I was referring more to parking that behemoth. The average road lane is what 10’ wide right? That trucks probably 9’10” wide. With that said, would DD.

No way in hell would I DD a dually unless it was hooked to a trailer all the time. Parking at work is tight enough for my F150 that I have to do a 3 point turn to get in and out of my spot.

Be realistic on what camper you would really buy and plan for that and if your even going to keep the truck long enough to tow the camper or if you will upgrade again before you get the camper.

They fit in the same place as a SRW. The mirrors are wider than the fenders. I've never found parking or driving a dually to be all that difficult, but again, entirely depends on the area. My CCLB F350 SRW on 35's was impossible in DC, but CCLB F350 DRW is no big deal in the midwest(il, ar, tx, ks, mo, etc...)

Sometimes here in CA I find myself cursing why I brought the truck to our destination but the kids like the truck better than the wife’s Accord. Sometimes cranking my turns out I imagine it being a DRW and it physically wouldn’t fit. Drive thru’s aren’t very friendly either. I have the same truck setup as you but probably worse as it’s a non bullet proofed 6-O (Insert rolling dice gif if I knew how too).
