I might just not be hearing the rattle, but that sounds like a typical example of extreme exhaust drone when there aren't any cats and a pretty loud muffler is being used. The reason it's loudest between 2 and 3 thousand rpm is because that's right in the sweet spot for exhaust drone.

Thanks. I bought the car with no cats or mufflers. Trying to decide the route I'm going with the exhaust.

A straight pipe exhaust will definitely give you that type of tone. My suggestion is a high flow catted midpipe and your choice for a catback. It's my opinion that 4vs sound better with non chambered mufflers, but it's all down to your personal preference.

@rustyveteran I have a similar sounding tick/rattle at those rpms. Around 2-3k I hear the same tick, what I found it to be was my lash adjuster was stuck, causing that noise. The tick was coming from passenger side head. Hope this helps you out at all.

Thank you. Mine as well is the passenger side. So replace lash adjuster? I have 150k on the car. Haven't had it long and dont know much of the history of the car. I can tell it's been drove hard and not taken care of.
