can sn95 coils be switched to a 99-04 style? somehow get rid of all the wires running through the front?

Yes, there is an adapter harness that converts the stock coil wiring to allow coil on plugs to function. From personal experience, when I tried the conversion, it would only start every once in a while. However, when I could get it to start, it ran like a champ. As soon as I converted back to the coil packs and wires, it started every time. I'm still unsure as to why I had so many issues, because it seems like other people run the COP swap and never run into any issues.

my 97 was converted when they put the 99 motor in, or so I am told. so, should be possible.

I had the conversion done on my 98 cobra. Worked like a charm. You will also need to swap valve covers.
