the wrench light is specific to the throttle body. It's not the check engine light. My guess is the throttle position at idle/closed is off just enough to throw the code based on what the tune wants...if you could read the number with a voltmeter it might help you, maybe Mr. Lund can help?

WOW!

I just dropped my car off at the dealer. The airbag light decided to stay on, so went in for the recall notice.

I also discussed the occasional DREADED Wrench light and the occasional check engine light with code P0100. They stated they would check it out. I explained to them my history (see previous threads/post), I didn't even try to hide anything in regards to modifications. I left my SCT tuner with the stock tune and the Lund tune with them.

Van specifically stated to me that it is not the Lund tune that is causing the wrench light, I hope he is right as the issue happened on the Ford Racing TB and continued to happen when I went back to the Stock TB.

So depending on how this plays out ... I could be turning the car back to stock and heading over to Nissan's camp. Possible fire sell coming soon...

Will post updates when I get them.... :nonono:

Yes that would be nice if you could post what they find out. I am also not afraid to say what I did to the car, only makes it that much more easier to figure what could have happened. I'm currently running a VMP tune at the moment so I doubt it's the tuner since I've ran both and have had the same results. I went from the ford racing twin 65mm to VMP's 67mm same results as of now again. I won't be switching to anything else the cars mine, but I do understand your frustration.

Funny that you mention VMP, I sent Justin@VMP a PM a few days back concerning this ongoing issue hoping to possibly get his thoughts as a second opinion on the subject... unfortunately I never received a reply.

I still have to do some data logging for VMP to make sure this 93 tune is top notch with my car but haven't had much time since I'm back to work again. I really need to get this wrench thing figured out though,I'm gonna give what dynobrat suggested a go and see if that tells me anything.

One topic I discussed with VAN awhile back was the adjusting of the aftermarket TB as seen in this video. I was told that it did not need to be done with the TB that I was working with.

Here is a video I quickly googled of BBK's after market TB and the needed adjustment:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PVDvouckdWk

Since I switched back from the Ford Racing 65mm to my stock TB, the wrench light is still coming and going.... I don't know what to think.

If it is not a TB adjustable issue within the Lund tune, I don't know what it could be :bash:

I've seen that video before as well and too was under the impression that there was no tinkering to be done with it. Seems only you and me have this damn wrench light. We're both modded the same except i have the 2.4 upper instead of a lower. But many guys have the same mods as us. Very weird in my mind but driving me fricken crazy now!!

Turbosnake what SCT are you using? I have the X3 and just curious how many other people have that one with the same mods as us. I know biminiLX had some issues with his and he swapped out to the X4 all his problems were solved.

I have the X3.

Not sure that the X3 is the problem as many have been running the X3 for years with no issue. The X4 just recently came out, but who knows....

If the X3 and the '13-'14 models are having an compatibility issue why hasn't SCT, VMP, Lund, or any other SCT tuner stated something in this regard?

The wrench light / limp mode does not happen 100% of the time, it is only occasionally affecting our cars. Most of the time with a quick restart of the car it temporarily solves the issue. The annoyance is that it happens and at the most inconvenient times.

There was a couple times very recently that when I started it my car went into limp mode and the wrench light didn't even come on... :??:

Hmmm that's a valid point....I'm only grasping now. Today every time I shut my car off and turned the key forward the wrench light appeared. It got so bad one round I had to shut the ignition on/off about 8 times to get it to go away. We have been having blistering heat lately, and now that I think about it that seems to be the trigger for me. After I swapped out that TB we were still having cool winter mornings and not once did I get the wrench. It really wasn't till now that I noticed it,didn't drive it once in June though and maybe a couple good times in May.

I may have missed where you returned to stock tune, but unless you've systematically eliminated all aftermarket items, I wouldn't have brought it to the dealer. Just thoughts from someone who's car is fairly stock (springs, lightbulb, and mudflaps - yeah, I know I'm a pussy) Good luck, we're eager to hear the resolution.

Just to make sure. ..have you checked the connectors to make sure a pin isn't push in and making a bad connection?

The main reason I took the car to dealer was due to the Airbag recall and my airbag light staying on.

As a last ditch effort I asked them to just diagnose the issue with the wrench light. Not worried about them trying to fix it because once the airbag issue is fixed I plan on turning the car completely back to stock. This whole ordeal has sucked the pleasure of driving the car out of me.

- I did not return it back to stock tune and run the car as I have long tube headers which were a pita to install and it's my understanding the tune is needed for the headers / WB02 sensors.

- I did check all the pins and wires.

- Only 4 mods on the car right now: Long tubes/Off road H pipe, 10% lower, JLT intake tube, and Lund tune... Not many things to cause a TB wrench light. I had the wrench light activate with the FR 65mm TB, and it continues to light up with the Stock TB which is currently installed.

I understand about it not being fun anymore, had lots of problems with a past car.

Did you use the o2 extenders? I've heard those are troublesome.

You did get an automated bounceback that said if you didn't hear back in 48 hours that you should call him. You can reach either of us by phone during regular business hours and we'll be glad to assist in whatever way we can.

My personal extension is 112.

Just so everyone can have a reference point, Ford did have some issues with a few throttle bodies and they were primarily monos. But, P0100 is an airflow issue and is normally related to the sensor. Odd that it would continue after a maf sensor replacement

Have you noticed it more with the Twin 67mm T/B than you did with the twin 65mm T/B?
