My biggest concern with the '20 GT500 is simply unproven time.
The GT350 should be a big warning to anyone wanting to run into a new model.

While a fun car and arguably one of the best to drive, it seems to already cement a reputation of huge failures.

The '13/'14 GT500 def have failures- but they come after you start making 800+ wheel which is beyond impressive in and of itself.

Time will tell which is king, but as one right now we're comparing a proven motor vs unproven.
What are the gt350 failures?

lots have high oil consumption followed by blown engines shortly after.
it's bad enough that ford won't honor any warranty of any modified engines- even down to the intake changing or scanning for tunes.

meanwhile you can take a fully modified 5.0 and they'll replace under warranty no questions asked.

theres a bunch of stories all over the web about the VooDoo platform having pretty serious issues- despite how fun the car is.

I believe Ford has a bigger quality issue than just the GT350 engine. It all starts at the top and it's being driven home to turn a profit at the cost of quality.

Speaking of the new 5.0s, I know there is an engine issue from the factory but it won't be a recall or tsb. Alot of new 5.0 owners complain of engine tick. Well, it's not a injector or head but a Engine bore issue from the factory in which the bore is out of round. I know of 3 owners now that had complete long block replacement. One friend only had 200 miles on his 5.0 PP2 package, had both heads replaced(didnt fix the noise) prior to Ford stepping up to the plate and replacing the motor.

My point is it just seems like in the last 3-4 years the quality is being sacrificed with more and more issues/repairs having to take place than there was 5 to 10 years ago. I could be wrong though.

Think I'll wait 2 to 3 years before buying the new GT500 so any kinks can be worked out. Thought about selling my 2013 but will hold on for now.

Thanks for your feedback.

MOST GT350s are reliable. Posts like this crack me up. You need to educate yourself a little bit more because you sound extremely ignorant. Y’all sound like the Terminator crowd did back in 07. A lot of grasping at straws to make yourselves feel good.

I just sold my 2017 mustang GT (supercharged, LTH, x pipe, billet oil pump gears, intake, many other suspension mods, etc, etc.,) it was a super strong runner. I also ran the piss out of it as a daily. Held together fine! But from day one it would tap like hammer hitting the lower drivers side of the block off and on. It really drove you nuts next to a wall or in a drive thru... Great motor, but I HATE a knock or tick in my car! I have never driven a GT350, but know of several that have blown, and hear they vibrate an awful lot?

That being said... the GT350’s look good and sound better. Wouldnt mind a good one myself.

He was probably talking about the Gen 3 (2018+) even though a gen 3 has gone 160+ mph with a stone stock long block. “They have issues and should be recalled”. Lmfao!

But youre right... the coyote has had the “tick” since the first gen back in 2011.

yeah? it's such a non-issue that there's a class action lawsuit going on eh?
Ford Shelby GT350 Engine Failure | Sauder Schelkopf Attorneys at Law

or maybe the recall ford themselves did?
Mustang Shelby GT350/R recalled for risk of engine seizure and fire [UPDATE]

maybe you should take your own advice and do some research before looking like the ignorant fool you claim others to be.
